Job TitleMechanical Assembly TechnicianJob SummaryThe Mechanical Assembly Technician is responsible for assembling, fitting, and testing mechanical components and systems [PW1] according to engineering drawings, work instructions, and quality standards. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work with hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring equipment in a manufacturing or production environment.Key ResponsibilitiesFollow all Safety Guidelines & Job Safety AssessmentsAssemble mechanical components, subassemblies, and complete systems following drawings, schematics, and work instructionsRead and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, and bills of materials (BOMs)Use hand tools, power tools, torque tools, and assembly fixtures safely and effectivelyPerform alignment, fitting, fastening, and adjustment of mechanical partsConduct basic functional tests and inspections to ensure assemblies meet quality standardsIdentify, document, and report assembly issues, defects, or deviationsRework or repair assemblies as directedMaintain a clean, organized, and safe work areaCollaborate with engineers, quality, and production teams to improve assembly processesAccurately complete production documentationRequired QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent (technical or vocational training preferred)1–3 years of experience in mechanical assembly, manufacturing, or related fieldAbility to read and interpret mechanical drawings and schematicsProficiency with hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, torque wrenches)Basic understanding of mechanical systems, fasteners, tolerances, and fitsStrong attention to detail and qualityAbility to follow written and verbal instructionsPreferred QualificationsAssociate degree or technical certification in mechanical technology or manufacturingExperience with electromechanical assembliesFamiliarity with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement practicesExperience working in ISO- or quality-controlled environmentsPhysical RequirementsAbility to stand for extended periodsAbility to lift up to 25–50 lbs (with or without assistance)Manual dexterity and hand–eye coordinationAbility to work in a production or shop-floor environmentWork EnvironmentManufacturing or assembly facilityMay involve exposure to noise, moving machinery, and toolsUse of personal protective equipment (PPE) as requiredKey Skills & CompetenciesMechanical aptitudeProblem-solvingTime managementTeamwork and communicationQuality-focused mindset
