PIPE LAYER/LABORERDepartment of Public Works – Water & Sewer DivisionSalary: $27.61/hourly + generous benefits The Town of Brookline’s Department of Public Works is seeking a dependable and hardworking Pipe Layer to join our Water & Sewer Division. This hands-on role is essential to maintaining the Town’s water and sewer infrastructure and ensuring reliable service to our residents.The Pipe Layer performs a variety of manual labor and maintenance tasks, including:Assisting with excavating and backfilling utility trenchesMaintaining hydrant and water main valvesCleaning and maintaining water storage facilities, reservoirs, and surrounding groundsPerforming seasonal work such as mowing, leaf raking, and snow removalResponding to emergencies involving water or sewer systemsInstalling, repairing, and maintaining water mains, service pipes, hydrants, and sewer/drain connectionsPerforms other duties as assignedQualificationsKnowledge of equipment operation and maintenance, safe work practices, and work zone safety is required. The ideal candidate can operate light equipment, assist other crew members on various projects, and has strong teamwork skills. A high school diploma and at least two years of experience in water and sewer construction, maintenance, or similar utility work is required, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
