Construction Safety Manager

SLSCO is seeking an experienced Construction Safety Manager to work across our public and private projects. The Construction Safety Manager ensures the safe execution of all construction activities by implementing and monitoring site-specific safety programs. This role focuses on hazard prevention, compliance with OSHA and local regulations, and fostering a proactive safety culture among all project personnel and subcontractors. Experience with public/government projects is a strong plus. This role requires a presence in both office and various locations as required based on active construction projects.
Responsibilities
Site Safety PlanningManage updates revisions to the Corporate Health and Safety Plan
Develop and implement project-specific safety plans for all projects aligned with company standards and regulatory requirements.
Work closely with site supervisors, subcontractors, and trade partners to integrate safety into all phases of construction.Site Inspections & TrainingConduct regular safety walkthroughs of the construction sites to ensure adherence to safety plans, identify hazards and ensure corrective actions are taken immediately.
Lead weekly toolbox talks and provide ongoing safety training as required for project activities (e.g., scaffolding, crane operations, excavation).Documentation & ComplianceOversee safety permits and ensure compliance with OSHA, local building codes, and environmental regulations.
Investigate accidents and near misses promptly; prepare root cause analysis and corrective action reports.
Maintain and update emergency response plans; coordinate drills specific to site conditions.
Keep accurate records of inspections, training, incidents, and compliance audits for project reporting.Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Certifications: OSHA 30-hour Construction Safety required; First Aid/CPR certification; 62 hour SST card; NYC DOB Construction Superintendent, SSC or SSM registration, a plus.
7 years in construction safety management, preferably on large-scale projects.
Strong knowledge of construction safety standards, excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
Working knowledge of Procore, eBuilder or other program management software
Proficient in Microsoft Office.
Physical Requirements
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Frequent walking, climbing, and standing on uneven surfaces.
