Lower Elementary Teacher

Position DescriptionImmaculate Conception is looking for an innovative, energetic, and driven teacher who has experience teaching 1st grade or closely related lower elementary and possesses great social-ability and timeliness in duties and responsibilities. This candidate will be dedicated to their craft, the love for teaching!Qualifications/RequirementsAll teachers in the Catholic Schools in the Archdiocese of Detroit shall be certified and /or approved for teaching by the Department of Education for the State of Michigan. All teachers are required to hold the appropriate endorsement for the subject(s) they are assigned to teach. All teachers who are catechist, (teachers of religion), must be certified by the Department of Evangelization, Catechesis and Schools. This position will require a Catholic candidate to have or earn a Catechist certificate through the archdiocese.Possess love for children and the desire for their success and growthFamiliarity with centers, running records and portfoliosProper certification by the Michigan Department of EducationCertified to teach lower elementary all subjects (grades K-5)Catechist certification preferredPossesses Protecting God's Children certification or will earnOrton Gillingham certification/experience a plusPossesses energy, is orderly, a problem solver, mobile in classroom settingConducts excellent classroom managementDisplays a high degree of knowledge in the subject matter assigned and is continuously upgrading competence.Instruct students daily in all subjects.Prepare regular lesson plans for weekly review and approval of Principal.Attend all faculty meetings and school events at which faculty attendance is required.Prepare and submit required student records and reports on a timely basis.Provide detailed emergency lesson plans for a substitute to follow in case of teacher’s absence.Gear instruction to student ability while providing assistance for those needing remedial work or enrichment.Knowledge and use of SMART technology, iPads and online programsPrepare referrals of special student cases and submit to the proper agency/authority.Maintain effective communications with parents and students.Perform school-related responsibilities, in addition to regular classroom instruction, as agreed upon in contract.Create differentiated lessons that can reach all learnersOrganizes learning activities to provide varied classroom experiences that are congruent with educational goals, objectives and Catholic Faith.Establishes effective relationships with students and models respect for, and acceptance of, all persons in the Catholic middle school setting.Establishes effective relationships with parents, community and other staff members.Maintains professional ethics and responsibilities including participation in the total school program, curriculum development and building committees, and provides a positive role model for students.Other duties as assigned by the administration.Apply To:If interested, please submit your cover letter, resume, letters of recommendation, teaching certification and other certifications reflective of the positionImmaculate Conception Catholic School7043 Church RdIra Twp, Michigan 48023e-mail: ricard@iccatholic.org
