INTERN

Under direct supervision, the Summer Intern supports various city departments by assisting with administrative, operational, and community-focused projects. This temporary position provides students with hands-on experience in municipal government while contributing to programs that serve the local community. Responsibilities may include conducting research, organizing data, assisting with public outreach and support staff with day-to-day tasks. The intern will gain exposure to public sector operations, develop professional skills, and collaborate with city staff across multiple departments.Assists with the general clerical duties in the office and other related duties as assigned.Operates a variety of equipment such as telephone, computer, copier, etc.May have interaction and communicate with the general public, community leaders, business owners, co-workers, supervisors, City department heads and elected officials.The duties listed above are not all inclusive of the various types of work that may be performed. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related or a logical assignment to the position.* Must be a Miramar resident.Must be currently enrolled in high school or collegeMust have good moral characterMust have basic knowledge of good customer serviceAbility to communicate effectively in oral and written form.Ability to adapt to an evolving and continually improving environment.Ability to respond to supervision, guidance and direction of superiors in a positive, receptive manner and in accordance with stated policies, be appropriately groomed and attired so as to present a professional image in accordance with the organization's mission, goals, and policies; report for work promptly and properly prepared at the time and place required by the assignment or orders; and notifying the appropriate supervisor of intended absences in accordance with stated rules; conform with standards and rules regarding use of accrued time.Ability to demonstrate a polite, helpful and courteous manner when engaged in any activity with the general public.Ability to demonstrate an understanding, consideration, and respect of cultural, religious, and gender differences when interacting with the general public and colleagues.
