Electrical Project Engineer
Position Summary:ISS is seeking a highly skilled Electrical Project Engineer to join our engineering team and contribute to the design and development of electrical systems.This role involves collaborating closely with customers and a multi-disciplinary engineering team to deliver technical solutions that meet specifications, budgets, and timelines.The Electrical Project Engineer will provide critical support throughout project lifecycles, from initial design through production and commissioning, while building strong client relationships and ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Design electrical schematics for air/liquid-cooled VFD systems, SCR drive systems, motor control centers, MV-switchgear, MV-VFD's and control panelsDevelop single-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, panel layouts, and wiring diagrams using AutoCAD ElectricalCreate comprehensive technical documentation including design calculations, equipment specifications, and installation guidelinesConduct short-circuits and arc-flash studies independently in accordance with IEEE and NFPA standardsPerform load flow analysis, voltage drop calculations, and coordination studiesReview and analyze customer electrical requirements and specificationsCreate and maintain accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) in the company ERP systemProvide technical support to production, quality assurance, and field service teams throughout project executionCollaborate with procurement to ensure timely acquisition of electrical components and equipmentParticipate in design reviews and value engineering initiativesDevelop, implement, and maintain engineering standards for Power Systems design and productsAuthor technical reports, white papers, and engineering calculationsIdentify opportunities for design optimization and cost reduction while maintaining qualityInterface with customers to clarify technical requirements and provide engineering solutionsProvide hands-on commissioning and startup support at customer sites when requiredTravel domestically and internationally (as needed) to assist the Field Service team with troubleshooting and technical guidance (20-30% travel)Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology (required)Advanced degree or Professional Engineer (PE) license (advantageous)Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in electrical engineering, preferably in industrial power systemsDemonstrated experience in designing VFD systems, motor controls, and power distribution equipmentBackground in project-based engineering with exposure to multiple project lifecyclesAdvanced proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical for schematic design and documentationStrong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Project)Must possess a foundational understanding of programming logic and control systems, with the ability to interpret and produce PLC drawings and follow control logic documentationExperience with electrical analysis software such as SKM PowerTools, ETAP, or similar platformsProficiency in MATLAB, Mathcad, or equivalent calculation toolsIn-depth understanding of NEC (National Electrical Code), NFPA 70E, and IEEE standardsStrong knowledge of VFD drives (ABB, Siemens, Rockwell, Danfoss, etc.), PLCs, and industrial control systemsExperience with SCR drives, soft starters, motor protection relays, and medium voltage switchgear (advantageous)Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex technical documents, P&IDs, and mechanical layout drawingsFamiliarity with industries such as oil and gas, petrochemical, wastewater, power generation, dredging, mining, or marine applicationsExceptional Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present technical information clearlyTime Management: Strong time management and organizational abilities with capability to manage multiple concurrent projectsProblem-Solving: Analytical mindset with superior problem-solving and troubleshooting capabilitiesCollaboration: Professional demeanor with a collaborative approach to teamwork and client interactionSelf-Motivated: Self-motivated with an enquiring mindset and desire to explore innovative solutionsQuality and Safety Focus: Strong awareness of quality assurance principles and commitment to safetyAttention to Detail: Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and completeness in all deliverablesWillingness to Travel: Available for domestic and occasional international travel (approximately 20-30%)The above job description is not intended to be an all-inclusive list of duties and standards of the position.
