Senior Data Loss Prevention (DLP) Engineer – Symantec/Broadcom (Remote)

We are hiring a Senior DLP Engineer to lead operations and maintenance of an enterprise Symantec/Broadcom Data Loss Prevention environment protecting sensitive information at a federal civilian agency. This is a hands-on senior engineering role, not an oversight role. You will own the platform. This position is contingent on contract award. We are building the team now. WHAT YOU'LL DO - Serve as the technical subject matter expert for all Symantec DLP components, servers, and databases. - Maintain, patch, and upgrade the DLP infrastructure: Enforce Server console, Email Prevent, Web Prevent, Network Monitor, and OCR components. - Lead day-to-day O&M - troubleshooting, issue resolution, and root cause analysis - with a two-hour acknowledgement and response commitment. - Develop, test, and promote fixes and upgrades through Development, Test, and Production, coordinating change windows around the customer's peak operational periods. - Build and refine detection rules, data profiles, patterns, regular expressions, and exception criteria that catch sensitive data without disrupting the business. - Harmonize policy across a mixed environment where Symantec DLP runs alongside Microsoft Purview DLP and Palo Alto DLP, so the same data type is treated consistently no matter which platform sees it. - Feed clean, normalized DLP event data into Splunk and help build the dashboards and alerting that give the customer real visibility. - Run disaster recovery failover exercises and support annual security compliance assessments. - Document everything - runbooks, SOPs, and procedures written so a government employee who did not build the system can operate it. Knowledge transfer is a contractual deliverable on this program, not an afterthought. WHAT YOU NEED - Bachelor's degree and 6+ years of information security engineering experience. Additional experience may substitute for the degree. - Demonstrated hands-on experience administering and engineering Symantec/Broadcom DLP in an enterprise environment - specifically Enforce Server, and one or more of Email Prevent, Web Prevent, or Network Monitor. - Experience authoring and tuning DLP policies, rules, and regular expressions, and a real method for reducing false positives without losing detection coverage. - Comfort with the server and database layer underneath the DLP platform (Windows/Linux administration, SQL, patching, upgrades). - U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent residency. - Ability to obtain and maintain a federal Public Trust / Moderate Background Investigation. This requires passing a background check that includes verification of federal tax filing compliance and Selective Service registration where applicable. WHAT WILL MOVE YOU TO THE TOP OF THE LIST - A current, favorably adjudicated federal background investigation (Public Trust, MBI, or an active clearance). Reciprocity can shorten your start date from weeks to days. - Prior federal DLP experience. - Microsoft Purview DLP experience - sensitive information types, Exact Data Match, trainable classifiers, Endpoint DLP. - Splunk experience: dashboards, SPL, alerting, or SOAR automation. - Palo Alto DLP, Prisma Cloud, Microsoft Defender for Cloud Apps, or Zscaler. - ServiceNow-based incident and change workflows. - CISSP, GIAC, or Symantec/Broadcom product certification.
