Development Associate Prospect Research
Job RequirementsThe Development Associate Prospect Research serves as a research and data support partner contributing to prospect development, portfolio support, and data-informed prospecting efforts. Helps identify and evaluate potential donors, supports portfolio management processes, and provides fundraisers with clear, accurate, and actionable information to advance cultivation and solicitation strategies. Working across a dual-CRM environment (RENXT and Advance/BBCRM), supports research, screenings, and queries, while helping maintain research quality and consistency. This position operates in close coordination with internal colleagues and campus partners—including UMB, UMBF, and UMMS Shared Services—to ensure alignment in prospect data, research standards, and reporting practices.Primary ResponsibilitiesPrepare prospect profile briefings and background summaries for meetings, events, and leadership engagementSupport execution of wealth screening initiatives, including donor and grateful patient screeningsConduct proactive and reactive research on individuals, corporations, and foundations using a variety of tools and sourcesIdentify opportunities to improve research workflows and support greater efficiencyMaintain tools, workflows, and tracking processes that support ongoing pipeline developmentAssist in developing and maintaining dashboards (Tableau, Power BI) across two CRM systemsProduce routine reports and assist with ad hoc data requestsSupport query building and list generation within Blackbaud CRM and Raiser’s Edge NXT (sunsetting Advance & moving to BBCRM in CY2026)Coordinate with UMMS Shared Services, UMB, and UMBF to help maintain consistency in data practices and prospect informationApply established prospect management guidelines and data standards; escalate discrepancies as appropriateServe as a support resource for frontline fundraisers by providing guidance on CRM usage and data entry practicesPerform all other duties as assigned.Work ExperienceEducationBachelor’s degreeMinimum one (1) year of experience in prospect development, research, or related fieldProficiency in CRM systems (RENXT, BBCRM) and prospect research toolsEducation & Experience - PreferredExperience in healthcare or academic medical center philanthropyKnowledge, Skills, & AbilitiesUnderstanding of wealth indicators and ability to translate findings into prospect insightsStrong organizational skills with attention to detailAbility to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a team-based environmentStrong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams
