SOC DispatcherThe SOC Dispatcher provides continuous monitoring and emergency coordination for ONI's Security Operations Center at NMIC. This mission-essential role operates the SOC communications desk, manages emergency and routine dispatch calls, monitors alarms, and ensures timely and accurate incident reporting. Dispatchers maintain situational awareness and serve as the first point of contact for security events, supporting ONI's mission readiness and physical security posture.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Dispatch Operations:
Receive, prioritize, and dispatch emergency and routine calls using the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system.
Maintain dispatch logs with accurate, time stamped entries for all calls and alarms.
Coordinate with patrol units and leadership during security and emergency events.
Alarm Monitoring & Incident Response:
Monitor alarms and notify appropriate personnel per SOP.
Escalate events according to established protocols; provide situational awareness reports.
Communications & Coordination:
Serve as the central communications hub for security operations; maintain clear and professional radio/phone communications.
Documentation & Reporting:
Prepare monthly SOC Activity Reports and Alarm/Incident Response Summaries.
Ensure logs and reports meet accuracy standards and are submitted on time.
Required Qualifications:
Proficiency with Computer Aided Dispatch systems, alarm monitoring tools, and radio/telephonic communication protocols.
Ability to work in a high stress environment and maintain focus during extended shifts.
U.S. Citizenship
Strong multitasking and prioritization skills under pressure.
Familiarity with development and execution of security SOPs and emergency response protocols.
Excellent verbal communication and documentation accuracy.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with ONI security policies.
Desired Qualifications:
Prior experience in dispatch, emergency communications, or security operations preferred.
Confidence, ability to maintain professional conduct and appearance, maintain compliance with ONI standards.
Education Requirements:
High school diploma or GED.
Security Clearance Requirements:
TS/SCI
Physical, Work Environment & Conditions:
Typical office environment:
Must be able to sit or stand at a workstation for extended periods.
Occasional standing while working in server rooms or at patch panels.
Must be able to lift and move moderately heavy equipment (e.g., routers, switches, servers) typically up to 30-50 pounds.
Manual Dexterity required for connecting cables, configuring devices, and handling small tools or components.
Must be able to view computer screens for long periods.
Ability to distinguish color-coded cabling and indicator lights.
Must be able to climb ladders or crawl in tight spaces for cable runs or equipment installation.
May require walking between different buildings or workstations.
Must be able to communicate clearly with technical teams and end-users.
May need to hear alarms, server beeps, or equipment noises indicating issues
