We over-communicate around everything...especially while we navigate our new hybrid world.SummaryAn Augeo Database Administrator will be responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of database systems that power Augeo's enterprise platforms across multiple teams and technology stacks. This individual will serve as a cross-team resource, ensuring database reliability, performance, and security across SQL Server, Snowflake, Oracle, and MySQL environments. You'll manage both on-premises and cloud-based database infrastructure, develop and maintain ETL processes using SSIS, and partner with development teams to optimize queries, design efficient data models, and ensure high availability and disaster recovery readiness. You'll also be expected to leverage AI-powered database management tools and agentic AI assistants to automate routine administration tasks, accelerate performance diagnostics, and continuously improve the efficiency and reliability of Augeo's data infrastructure.Who You AreAn innovator who brings ideas to the table, works hard, tells your story, and builds new tech - someone who is a genuine collaborator who contributes to the team and helps accomplish amazing things in a high-energy and dynamic environment.High-level Job RequirementsAdminister, maintain, and optimize Microsoft SQL Server environments, including installation, configuration, patching, and upgrades across development, staging, and production instancesManage and support Snowflake cloud data platform environments, including user access, warehouse configuration, resource monitoring, and query optimizationProvide administration support for Oracle and MySQL database instances, including monitoring, backup, and basic performance tuningDesign, develop, and maintain ETL processes using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) to move and transform data across database platforms and business systemsImplement and manage database backup and recovery strategies, ensuring compliance with RPO/RTO requirements and disaster recovery readinessLeverage AI-powered database management and monitoring tools to automate routine administration tasks, accelerate performance diagnostics, and predict capacity needsIdentify and implement opportunities to use agentic AI assistants to automate database health checks, anomaly detection, automated index recommendations, and incident response workflowsSupport data migration initiatives, including planning and executing migrations between on-premises and cloud environmentsDocument database configurations, architecture decisions, operational procedures, and runbooks for knowledge sharing and disaster recoveryEmbrace Augeo's CORE values -- Collaborative, Objective, Responsive and Earnest in all areasCompetenciesProven ability to collaborate with cross-functional development teams, providing database expertise and guidance on data architecture decisionsForward thinking on ways to improve database performance, reliability, and operational efficiency across the organizationProactive adoption of AI-powered database administration tools and agentic AI assistants, with the ability to evaluate and recommend new AI capabilities for database operationsDesired Technical Skills3-5 years of hands-on experience administering Microsoft SQL Server (2016+), including installation, configuration, performance tuning, Always On Availability Groups, replication, and T-SQL developmentExperience supporting database environments in a multi-platform organization (SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, and/or Snowflake)Working knowledge of Oracle database administration, including basic installation, user management, backup/recovery, and PL/SQL familiarityStrong SQL skills across multiple dialects (T-SQL, PL/SQL, MySQL) with the ability to write, review, and optimize complex queries and stored proceduresFamiliarity with database monitoring and management tools (e.g., SolarWinds DPA, Redgate, SQL Sentry, or similar)Exposure to cloud database services (Azure SQL, AWS RDS, or similar) is a plusExperience with version control systems (Git, Bitbucket) for managing database scripts and migration filesEducation and ExperienceFour-year college degree from a regionally accredited college or university in Computer Science, Information Technology, Database Administration, or a related field preferred (or equivalent relevant experience)3-5 years of experience in a database administration or database engineering roleExperience working within agile software development practices such as scrum ceremonies, sprint planning, and backlog managementExperience working with JIRA and ConfluenceExperience in a SOC 2 Type II certified environment is a plusRelevant certifications (Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator, SnowPro Core, Oracle OCA/OCP, or similar) are a plusWork EnvironmentThis job operates in a professional office environment.
