DDS Mentor
Come join COMPASS (www.compassboston.org) in our Community Service program as a DDS Mentor working with Department of Developmental Services (DDS) clients. DDS report to the DDS Program Supervisor and provide direct support to DDS clients, working closely with the Department of Developmental Services and collaterals with the goal of helping clients build skills through education, repetition, and enrichment so they can participate fully and meaningfully in their communities. Support Specialists must also understand, respond to, and embrace the cultural and linguistic diversity among COMPASS staff and clients. DDS Mentors meet regularly with their supervisor, to ensure the effective implementation of COMPASS services.

DDS Support Specialist work includes:
o Provide home and community-based mentorship to young adults with developmental disabilities who have been referred by DDS with the goal of providing individuals with the skills and training to maintain a future of independence.
o Meet with all clients on caseload as often as necessary to conduct COMPASS services and to meet contractual obligations set by DDS, helping clients build skills through education, repetition, and enrichment.
o Develop appropriate relationships with clients to ensure their ongoing participation and engagement.
o Serve as an effective liaison between clients and collaterals.
Organize and maintain records of each client’s progress and setbacks in their Individualized Support Plans (ISPs), in email updates to Service Coordinators, and on Filemaker-Pro
Submit weekly updates on client progress in email updates to DDS Service Coordinators
Complete Emergency Fact Sheets for all clients
Assist clients with completing any documentation required by collateral's or by state and federal agencies
Prepare ISPs and accompanying assessments for annual or semi-annual meetings
Review ISPs and accompanying documentation
Attend annual or semi-annual ISP meetings with the Department of Developmental Services
Working throughout Eastern Massachusetts all staff members are required to have a reliable car. COMPASS reimburses for travel expenses. Staff members need to be computer literate as all employees are provided a laptop and iPhone. Staff members must be willing to work flexible hours (37.5 hours/week), with some on-call responsibilities. Bilingual candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
