The salary and benefits associated with this position are outlined in the current East Haven Education Association contract.Experience:Two or more years of EL/ML or general education experience;Thorough knowledge of current research and effective practices of teaching English as a second language, as well as second language acquisition theory;Clear understanding of standards-based and differentiated instruction;Demonstrated ability to analyze assessments and other student data as a means for making instructional decisions;Possess strong collaborative capabilities and proven ability to work as a member of a team;Knowledge of philosophies and objectives regarding cultural responsivenessBilingual (Spanish-speaking preferred)Minimum Qualifications/Skills and Knowledge Requirements:Design and implement engaging instruction either in the general education classroom or in pullout sessions that lead to English language fluency in both conversational and academic situations;Administer annual LAS Links Assessment to identify EL/ML needs;Collaborate with general education teachers to ensure that general education classroom environments and learning experiences support EL/MLs;Using the District's criteria for EL/ML placement, identify students who qualify for English language support services and determine the level and nature of services for each student;Serve as a resource to families in understanding the EL/ML program, as well as their students' learning progress and needs;Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, IEP meetings, EIT meetings and any other meetings pertaining to EL/ML student achievement;Any other duties as assigned by EL/ML District Facilitator.Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Classified Personnel.This job description is not, nor is it intended to be, a complete statement of all duties, functions, and responsibilities which comprises this position.East Haven Public Schools Notice of Non-Discrimination
