Cloud Principal Engineer

Overview In this role you will help build a new Cloud Engineering function to modernize the platform, optimize costs, and improve delivery reliability across AWS and Azure (with limited GCP). You will define cloud strategy, assemble the initial team, and drive outcomes in cost reduction, platform standardization, observability, and application modernization. You will unify disparate cloud ops and align engineering work with business priorities. This is a chance to shape a scalable, multi-cloud foundation for Centric’s growing product platform. ResponsibilitiesDefine the cloud engineering operating model and role boundaries across DevOps, Cloud Ops, and R&D teamsBuild and mentor the initial cloud engineering team and hire pipelinePrioritize roadmap initiatives into quarterly execution plans with clear owners and milestonesEstablish platform and automation standards for infrastructure provisioning, CI/CD integration, security controls, and reliabilityLead cross-functional programs requiring coordinated cloud, platform, and application changesEnsure decisions are evidence-driven with transparent measurement and reporting Key requirements5+ years in cloud/platform engineering, SRE, or infrastructure leadership roles3+ years leading cross-functional technical programs with direct business impactStrong hands-on depth in at least two of: Kubernetes platforms, cloud infrastructure automation, cost optimization, observability, CI/CD systemsExperience across AWS and Azure in production environmentsProven ability to translate business goals into technical roadmap executionStrong written and verbal communication skills for technical and non-technical stakeholdersstrong communicationownership and accountabilitysystems thinkingManaged Kubernetes platforms: EKS and/or AKSInfrastructure as Code: Terraform, OpenTofu, or PulumiCloud automation and scripting: Python and/or TypeScript
