Mechanical Engineering Co-Op - Fall 2026

We are in search of a Co-Op Engineer to join our Power & Water Solutions business based in Cranberry Township, PA. Power & Water Solutions is an industry-leading controls automation company that focuses on providing applications in the renewable (solar, hydro, wind), fossil (natural gas and coal) power generation, and water treatment plants sectors. We focus on upgrading existing plant control systems with industry-leading automation controls and instrumentation to promote the sustainability and longevity of our North American power grid and wastewater infrastructure. In this role, you will be using the latest software and hardware platform including our virtualization, simulation, and remote support technologies to provide customized and efficient solutions to our customers.We will offer you hands-on work experience and on-the-job training supported by senior engineers and mentorship.As a Co-op engineer, you will:Be part of a global, collaborative, and innovative team passionate about solving complex electrical, mechanical, and software problemsLearn about automation solutions for our project process and products to meet our customer demandsImmediately contribute to application design and engineering execution of projectsProvide new and diverse ideas to the engineering and management teamsBe given opportunities to build and develop your technical capabilitiesHave opportunities to work in an office, travel to the field, visit vendors, and/or observe system manufacturing and testing activitiesCan expect to receive a real-world application of engineering principles balanced with an understanding of customer needs and financial/schedule constraintsBe paired with senior engineers to provide you with mentorship and trainingWork together with other co-ops on specific multi-functional projectsWHO YOU ARE:A student excited about being part of an active team of global problem-solvers, all working together to make the world healthier, safer, smarter, and more sustainable. You are interested in renewable and traditional energy solutions and improving our water treatment processes throughout the world.FOR THIS ROLE, YOU WILL NEED:Pursuing bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or electro-mechanical engineeringEnrolled in a formal Co-Op program as part of your bachelor's degrees curriculumAbility to return for multiple co-op rotationsPerform work in an office environment and at customer sites within operating facilities (e.g., power plant) which includes walking on grating, use of stairs and ladders, hot or cold ambient temperatures with a potential high noise level, as well as carrying mechanical hardware weighing up to 40 pounds and the ability to be on your feet for a 12-hour shift.Ability to travel up to 5%Legal authorization to work in the United States - sponsorship will not be provided for this positionOur Culture & Commitment to YouAt Emerson, we prioritize a workplace where every employee is valued, respected, and empowered to grow.
