Volunteer: Film Industry Partner Database (Rental Houses, Post, Production, Agencies)
This is a volunteer opportunity provided by Taproot Foundation, a nonprofit creating social change through pro bono connections. We are looking for a film industry professional with vendor or partnership experience to build a Film Industry Partner Database covering rental houses, post-production facilities, production companies, talent agencies, unions, and craft service providers. The volunteer will deliver a vetted database of 40 to 60 industry partner prospects weighted toward NYC and LA with supporting prospects in Boston and San Diego, plus outreach templates and a tracking system. Scope of work includes the following: 1. Research 40 to 60 film industry companies across rental, post, production, representation, and craft 2. Geographic split approximately 40 percent NYC, 30 percent LA, 15 percent each Boston and San Diego 3. Identify specific partnership angles per category (gear discounts, post hours, production internships, agency mentorship, union access) 4. Capture decision-makers and CSR or community engagement contacts 5. Draft 3 outreach templates calibrated by partnership type 6. Sequence a 90 day outreach plan The ideal volunteer has worked in production, post-production, rentals, agency representation, or industry development, and wants to help open doors for the next generation. This project should take 25 to 35 hours to complete. We are hopeful that our volunteer partner will share 2 to 5 hours of their time per week.Ineffable Films exists to make sure that the stories of emerging and underserved filmmakers actually travel. The film industry, for most underrepresented filmmakers, is a closed door that they are told to knock politely on. Our work is to find the people inside who are willing to open it. Every rental house in this database is a potential source of a camera kit for a kid who could not otherwise afford one. Every post house is a potential source of editing hours that turn a rough cut into a festival-ready film. Every agency is a potential source of mentorship that puts a first generation filmmaker in the same room as the people who actually shape careers. Every union conversation is a potential apprenticeship pathway. Access is the difference between a story that gets told and a story that does not. A teen filmmaker who borrows a real cinema camera for a weekend makes a different film than one shooting on a phone. A college student who sits in on a real edit session learns the language of the craft. A first time festival filmmaker who gets a single agency meeting is changed by it. Your work creates those moments at scale. We have existing relationships from prior production work, an active GoHighLevel CRM with a partnerships pipeline, and a Confluence wiki for documentation. Our Video lead, Matt McGee, has direct industry experience and will provide context on rental house and post-production relationships. Our internship program (Mission Ineffable) provides structured pathways for industry partners who want to host interns. The volunteer will work directly with our Founder and CEO, our Video lead, and our Programs lead, with weekly 30 minute check ins. Once complete, the database becomes the operational guide for securing in-kind production resources, internship placements, and mentorship for our Festival Wings and Open Hours programs across 2026 and 2027.Ineffable Films, Inc. We explore narratives that expose and celebrate the cultures, ethnicities, and communities of worlds both real and imagined. Our mission is to support these teenagers, especially those from BIPOC backgrounds, in telling their unique human journeys through the powerful medium of film. We operate primarily in the Greater Boston area, including Somerville, Cambridge, and Brookline, with aspirations to expand our reach and impact.
