Description: What you'll be doing Another Source's client, UNC Charlotte, is recruiting a Benefits Consultant Generalist to join their team in Charlotte, North Carolina. This is a hybrid opportunity. About this role: This is a highly visible, hands-on role supporting employees across the full employment lifecycle-from onboarding through retirement. The Benefits Consultant Generalist steps into a high-impact, high-variety environment, providing critical coverage across leave administration, retirement counseling, and onboarding/offboarding support. You'll play a key role in ensuring timely, compliant, and people-centered benefits support in a fast-paced university environment serving more than 4,000 employees. Your Contribution Will Likely Include: Leave of Absence (30%)Guide employees through leave options, eligibility, and benefits with clarity and empathyReview applications and medical documentation to determine eligibility and ensure complianceManage casework, including documentation, system entries, and communicationsPartner with Employee Relations on complex or sensitive situationsMonitor case data, reporting, and timekeeping accuracy Retirement (30%)Advise employees on retirement options including TSERS, ORP, phased retirement, and incentive programsProvide guidance on retiree benefits such as healthcare, Medicare, and supplemental retirement plans (403(b), 457(b), NC 401(k))Process retirement documentation and ensure timely, accurate completionSupport complex calculations, reporting, and educational presentations Onboarding / Offboarding (30%)Deliver benefits orientations and consultations for new, transferring, and departing employeesSupport benefits enrollment and ensure compliance with required retirement electionsGuide employees through separation-related benefits including COBRA and portability optionsMonitor and process separation actions, deductions, and exception requestsSupport reduction in force (RIF) actions and retirement-related transitions Additional Benefits Support (10%)Respond to high-volume HR inquiries through service channelsInterpret policies and collaborate with internal stakeholdersSupport process improvements and maintain documentationAssist with life events processing, open enrollment, and special projects Experience You Will Bring:Bachelor's degree in a related field and 2+ years of HR benefits experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experienceStrong working knowledge of benefits administration, including leave, retirement, and employee lifecycle supportAdvanced Excel skills and comfort working across HR systemsAbility to manage high-volume, time-sensitive work with strong attention to detailExcellent written and verbal communication skills Preferred Qualifications:Broad experience across benefits functions (leave, retirement, onboarding/offboarding)Experience in public sector or higher education environmentsStrong presentation skills and ability to communicate with diverse audiences What's in it for you: https://hr.charlotte.edu/benefits/benefits-overview/Salary Range: $61,000 - $66,000Comprehensive benefits package including health, retirement plans, and paid time offOpportunity to work in a hybrid environment with flexibilityA role with meaningful impact supporting employees at critical moments in their careers and lives Equal Opportunity Employer: UNC Charlotte is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer.
