Investigate complex electrical, electronic, and associated mechanical problems or breakdowns and make diagnosis based upon findings and define corrective action necessary. Troubleshoots or reworks electrical, electronic, or pnuematic control systems.Description Of Essential Functions And ResponsibilitiesInclude the following. Other duties may be assigned as necessitated by Company production requirements. Installs power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and equipment. Connects power supply wires to machines and equipment and connects cables and wires between machines and equipment. Plan layouts and installs wiring and conduit as well as lighting fixtures, switches, outlets and other electrical devices that require hard wiring to the facility power supply. Plan layouts and installs telephone wiring and communications cables such as data processing lines etc., that require running inside walls, above ceiling or below floor. Diagnoses malfunctioning apparatus such as transformers, motors, pnuematic controls and lighting fixtures and replaces damaged or broken wires, cables or other parts necessary to correct the malfunction. Performs troubleshooting or rework of electrical, electronic or pnuematic control systems. Test malfunctioning machinery and discusses malfunction with other maintenance workers as necessary to achieve consensus on the required course of action to repair the problem. Replaces faulty electrical components of machines or equipment such as relays, switches, and motors. Diagnoses and repairs or replaces faulty electronic components such as printed circuit boards. Replaces electric motor bearings and rewires motors. Monitors and tests electrical and electronic components as needed to maintain proper working order and avoid production delays. Performs other maintenance trade work as required such as plumbing, carpentry, etc. when electrical work load is low Works as an active team member by participating in problem solving, team building, and all other team activities to improve the processes, productivity, quality, etc. of the department. Uses interpersonal skills as well as good written and verbal communications. Assists other department members as requiredEquipment/Process Responsibilities - Performs duties where property, tools, equipment, machines or facility may be damaged or man-hours lost through improper maintenance and attention to work performed. Maintains own tool kit and advises supervision as to when special tools for particular tasks need purchase or replacement.Material or Product Responsibilities - Performs duties that require close attention to work, supporting documentation specifications and other requirements of basic electrical principles. Responsible for proper functioning of electrical and electronic components necessary to the efficient operation of production machines and equipmentResponsibility for Work of Others - Accuracy of communication is mandatory to successful installation and/or repair of electric-related items. Must be able to communicate to appropriate personnel any problems or concerns regarding quality, safety or timeliness of work required, or components, tools or equipment issues. Must be able to train employees of equal or lower classification in electrical methods and procedures used by the Company.Safety Responsibilities - Good housekeeping, adherence to National Electric Code, as well as compliance with Company Safety Rules is required.Initiative and Ingenuity - Requires initiative in maintaining all electric-related items. Makes suggestions for improving machines, equipment, lighting, wiring, etc. Uses ingenuity in planning, layout and devising proper installations or repairs. Takes on or reports for additional work as current tasks are completed.WORK ENVIRONMENTEnvironmental Surroundings - Work is in a machine shop environment where noise, temperature fluctuations, etc. are less desirable than in a typical office environment.Unavoidable Hazards - Possible hazards related to cuts, bruises, electrical burns and/or shock, finger and hand injuries and muscle strains. Exposure to moving mechanical parts, high electrical voltage, metalworking fluids and airborne particles. Some confined space work and work on ladders or elevated positions where falls are a risk. Protective safety wear and equipment should be worn as appropriate to the task at hand.EFFORTPhysical - Able to lift up to 50 pounds. Requires hand and finger manipulation to operate hand and power tools, instruments, and/or install various components such as wiring, conduit, switches, relays etc., necessary to installations and repairs required by job duties. Must be able to reach, bend .stretch, kneel, stoop, crawl and climb, and work in confined spaces such as attics, crawl spaces etc. Job assignments may require standing, sitting, working on a ladder, or in a confined space for periods exceeding 15 minutes at a time.Mental - Reasoning ability required to interpret complex blueprints, drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, etc. Must be able to draw conclusions from a variety of abstract and concrete variables. Required to organize work tasks for best efficiency.Visual - Close attention to detail with moderate eye concentration for extended periods of time. Able to read precision instruments. Requires close and distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, and depth perception.Pay Range: $40.70 to $46.68 LG 12 Sunday through Thursday 9:00 pm to 5:30amQualificationsEDUCATION/TRAININGDemonstrated ability to read and write English of a level required in Company shop documents and computer software entry and processing requirements as well as technical manuals. Must be capable of applying mathematical operations using fractions, decimals, algebra and geometry as required by essential job duties. Generally equivalent to journeyman trade school graduate or equivalent.ExperienceRequires 6 years at journeyman level or equivalent skills and knowledge expertise in facility and industrial machine electric installations and repairs which are necessary to fulfill job requirements. Must have a journeyman's working knowledge of the National Electrical Code. Must read precision measuring instruments such as various gauges, meters, calipers and micrometers as well as wiring diagrams, machine schematics, blueprints and other documentation similar or comparable to those used by the Company.CompensationIn compliance with all states and cities requiring transparency of pay, the expected pay range for this position is $40.70 to $46.68/hour.Compensation can vary depending on several factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, experience, competencies, and geographic location. Some roles may qualify for extra incentives like equity, commissions, or other variable performance-related bonuses.
