Staff Accountant
FLOORING ACCOUNTANT Reports To: President of FlooringStatus: ExemptSummary: The Flooring Accountant will be responsible for all financial aspectsof Driven 4 Flooring. This should include all AP/AR and payroll Items, along withensuring all parts of the business are running smoothly from a financial and accounting perspective. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:• Processes payments to material suppliers and negotiate terms where possible. • Fills out new vendor applications for credit and has signed by the President of Flooring or Owners where necessary.• Issues invoices to customers upon milestone completion or job sign-off and monitorsreports to follow up on outstanding balances. • Assists with month-end and year-end inventory counts and reconcile inventory sub-ledgers to the general ledger. • Maintains the general ledger and performs monthly bank reconciliations. • Prepares monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements. • Builds efficient internal accounting processes and draft standard operating procedures.• Tracks material costs against Labor costs for every project. Including managing the WIP accounting to recognize revenue as jobs are completed and monitoring gross profit margins. • Processes payroll for office staff and manages payments for subcontracted installation crews. Ensures 1099 documentation and lien waivers are signed and filed for all independent contractors.• Assists management with preparation of budgets and financial projections.• Performs all other duties as assigned. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. • Education and Experience – High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate); bachelor’s degree in accounting; A minimum of 2-5 years of general accounting and financial analysis work experience is required.• Language Skills – Ability to follow verbal and written work instructions. Ability to read, analyse, and interpret financial and accounting reports, invoices, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to management. Ability to interact clearly and effectively, in both written and oral communication, with supervisor, clients, staff, vendors, etc.• Mathematical Skills – Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.• Computer Skills – To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc. This role requires an above- average knowledge of Microsoft Office. Proficient in accounting software.• Industry Experience – Relevant experience in real estate development or construction highly preferred, but not required. PHYSICAL DEMANDS:While performing the duties of this job, the individual must be able to remain in a stationary position for 90 percent of the time while operating their computer and performing office work. The individual needs to occasionally move about inside the office. They constantly operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, fax machine, and computer printer. They must be able to exchange accurate information with customers and others in the office while interacting. The employee must regularly move up to 15 pounds and occasionally up to 25 pounds. WORK ENVIRONMENT:While performing the duties of this Job, the individual is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate. The individual frequently works in a controlled climate.
