Food Services Worker/ Cook

If you want to help make a difference by serving your community and helping those in need, apply now!The Food Services Worker will prepare, cook and serve food for the residents of the Emergency Lodge Homeless Shelter; clean the kitchen, dining room and food service areas according to sanitation and safety standards.About the role:Prepare and cook meals according to established menusPrepare bag breakfasts and lunchesPrepare and save hot dinners for clients as requested by the Case Management staffEnsure proper rotation of food inventory and dispose of outdated foodsWash, cut, and prepare foods designated for cookingPrepare and serve beveragesMaintain sanitation, health and safety standards in work areasMaintain the cleanliness of the Walk-In Cooler, Freezer and Dry Goods Store RoomSubstitute for or assist other Food Service Worker/Cooks during emergencies, rush periods or absencesConduct regular inventory of food and food service supplies and report any needs to the Food Services SupervisorAssist with the maintenance of all kitchen equipment and communicate equipment needs to the Food Services SupervisorAccept and store daily deliveriesInteract with residents and staff in a friendly and professional mannerWork with Case Management staff to ensure that special dietary needs of residents are metUnderstand and comply with all safety, sanitation and food handling standardsUnderstand and comply with The Salvation Army's Mission StatementComply with all Salvation Army policy and procedures.Education:High school diploma or equivalent Experience:One year experience in food services, institutional cooking or related experience-Or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilitiesCertifications:Serve Safe CertificationThe Salvation Army is an equal opportunity employer.
