Girls Varsity Hockey Assistant Coach
Job PurposeCollaborate with the Head Varsity Coach in the leadership, development, and day-to-day management of the Girls' Varsity Hockey program.Essential Job Duties And ResponsibilitiesAssist with Planning and conducting daily practices to promote the development and improvement of plays, preparing players for games and competitive playAssist with planning, conducting practices, and running specific on-ice drills.Assist with game preparation and bench management.Support the Head Coach in implementing player development plans that enhance individual skills, elevate performance, and promote holistic athlete growth.Provide individualized feedback to players and monitor their progress, often working with specific positions.Manage equipment inventory, coordinate travel, and handle team meals as needed.Assist in identifying, evaluating, and recruiting prospective student?athletes who meet the School’s academic and athletic standards; support off?campus recruiting efforts and coordinate on?campus visits with support from Admissions.Require athletes to represent the School in a respectful and dignified manner by teaching the importance of sportsmanship and hold them accountable for their behavior and attendance at all practices and gamesUtilize athletics to teach and reinforce the School mission statement and valuesCreate an environment where the enjoyment of the sport is promoted Adhere to all School policies as outlined in the Employee HandbookContinually meet or exceed Pomfret School’s Standards of Behavior, Character, and EngagementPerform other duties as assigned QualificationsCollegiate player or high school coaching experience preferred.Must travel to peer schools on game days (Wednesdays and Saturdays)Possess a highly professional and ethical mannerWork ConditionsRequires substantial movement of entire body; running, jumping, tossing/throwingVisual acuity within normal parameters
