Girls Varsity Volleyball Coach

Job PurposeResponsible for overseeing all aspects of the girls' varsity volleyball programEssential Job Duties And ResponsibilitiesPlan and conduct daily practices to promote the development and improvement of skills, preparing players for games and competitive playEducate student athletes about college, the placement process, and support those who have the ability and interest to play in collegeWork closely with the College Counseling office to strategize and assist student-athletes with the college process when students are being recruited; Developing and maintaining professional contacts with collegiate coaches and programs at all levels are instrumental in supporting Pomfret Student AthletesAssist Admissions efforts by identifying and attracting qualified student athletesProvide leadership, support, and guidance for the entire program, including other sports at all levelsSelect students who are best suited in skill, commitment, and performance for the expected level of play for your teamMeet with student-athletes throughout the academic year; provide professional development feedback for coaching staffRequire student athletes to represent the School in a respectful and dignified manner by teaching the importance of sportsmanship and hold them accountable for their behavior and attendance at all practices and gamesUtilize athletics to teach and reinforce the school's mission statement and valuesCreate an environment where the enjoyment of the sport is promoted Ensure the health and safety of players, coaches, and spectatorsEngage with parents and cultivate a successful relationship Promote the school and the sport through articles, media coverage, the athletic website, etc., which includes emailing game summaries to “The Pomfret Sports Digest”, newspapers, and/or league officers within 24 hours after all gamesCommunicate noteworthy news and/or accomplishments to the Communications departmentAttend NEPSAC and League coaches meetings for VolleyballSeek professional development opportunities through clinics, coaching associations, videos, or other coachesAdhere to all School policies as outlined in the Employee HandbookContinually meet or exceed Pomfret School’s Standards of Behavior, Character, and EngagementPerform other duties as assigned RequirementsQualifications:Collegiate player or high school coaching experience preferred.Must have held a valid US driver's license for at least three years Must travel to peer schools on game days (Wednesdays and Saturdays)Possess a highly professional and ethical mannerWork ConditionsRequires substantial movement of entire body; running, jumping, tossing/throwingVisual acuity within normal parameter
