Machine Set-Up Operator for Electronics Manufacturing

Job Description Role OverviewAn SMT (Surface Mount Technology) Operator at Creative Electronics & Software is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining SMT machines used in the assembly of electronic components onto printed circuit boards (PCBs). The operator ensures machines run efficiently, troubleshoots issues, and performs quality checks to meet production standardsKey ResponsibilitiesSetup & Operation: Configure and operate SMT equipment such as pick-and-place machines, screen printers, reflow ovens, and AOI (Automatic Optical Inspection) systems according to work order specificationsProduction Monitoring: Monitor machines during operation, make adjustments to maintain quality and efficiency, and ensure compliance with safety regulationsMaintenance: Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and calibration of SMT machines to keep them in optimal conditionQuality Control: Inspect and test components and assemblies for defects using AOI and other inspection tools hrblade.com.Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve equipment malfunctions or process issues to minimize downtimeProcess Support: Assist in process optimization, follow standardized quality control procedures, and collaborate with production teams for continuous improvementTraining: Provide guidance and training to new operators on SMT processes and equipment useRequired QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent hrblade.com+1.1–2 years of experience operating SMT equipment in a manufacturing environmentUnderstanding of electronic components, PCB assembly, soldering, and de-solderingAbility to read and interpret technical drawingsStrong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to work in a fast-paced environmentGood mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skillsAbility to work flexible hours, including overtime and weekendsPreferred SkillsExperience with solder paste printing, component placement, and reflow solderingFamiliarity with AOI and other quality inspection toolsProficiency in soldering and de-soldering techniquesWork EnvironmentThe role is typically performed in a manufacturing plant setting, involving physical tasks such as lifting up to 50 pounds, working with electronic tools, and maintaining a clean, organized workspaceThis position is critical to ensuring high-quality electronic assembly and efficient production at Creative Electronics & Software, making it a hands-on, technical role that blends mechanical operation with quality assurance.
