The business is a market leader in providing unsecured working capital to micro and small enterprises, leveraging proprietary technology and data driven decisioning to empower business owners at scale.The RoleThis is a hands on senior engineering role where you will act as the technical anchor within a squad. You will lead through practice, not hierarchy, embedding engineering excellence and modern XP principles directly into day to day delivery.You will write production code daily, pair with engineers across the team, and take ownership of system quality, reliability, and performance. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in highly collaborative environments and values clean, maintainable, well tested systems.The Responsibilities - Embed engineering best practices including test driven development, pair programming, continuous integration, and trunk based development - Write high quality production code and contribute to all significant technical decisions - Design and evolve backend systems using microservices, domain driven design, and event driven architecture - Own CI/CD pipelines and ensure strong automated quality controls - Take responsibility for system reliability, performance, and scalability - Drive improvements in deployment frequency, lead time, and system stability - Support and mentor engineers through hands on pairing and collaboration - Work closely with product and business stakeholders to deliver scalable solutionsRequirements - 10+ years of backend engineering experience - Strong Java expertise with microservices architecture - Proven experience with test driven development in production environments - Experience with pair programming as a core way of working - Strong understanding of CI/CD, trunk based development, and DevOps principles - Experience with cloud platforms such as GCP, AWS, or Azure - Hands on experience with Docker and modern backend tooling - Solid understanding of SQL and NoSQL databases - Ability to influence technical direction through collaboration rather than authority - Strong communication skills across technical and non technical stakeholdersRecruitment Process - Technical Interview including live Java coding exercise - Final Interview with CTO and Talent AcquisitionReady to Apply?send your CV to pierre.rodriguez@wedotech.uk
