JOB TITLE: Product SpecialistDEPARTMENT: EngineeringREPORTS TO: Engineering ManagerCLASSIFICATION: ExemptPosition SummaryThe Product Specialist serves as the technical expert for assigned products, supporting design, performance, and lifecycle management. This role bridges engineering, operations, and sales teams to ensure products are technically sound, manufacturable, and aligned with customer requirements.Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical Product OwnershipServe as the technical subject matter expert for assigned products and systemsMaintain in-depth knowledge of product design, materials, specifications, and performance requirementsPartner with sales teams to provide product training, demos, and technical supportSupport product configuration, customization, and application-specific solutionsProactively develop new and improved ideas for designated product lineResponsible for identifying potential markets, customers, or opportunities for growth of product lineEngineering & Development SupportWork with engineering teams on product design, validation, and continuous improvement initiativesAssist in reviewing drawings, specifications, and engineering change requests (ECRs)Support testing, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis of product issuesParticipate in product development and new product processesEnsure documentation aligns with engineering standards and revisionsDevelop and maintain technical documentation (spec sheets, work instructions, manuals)Manufacturing & Operations InterfaceCollaborate with operations to ensure manufacturability, quality, and efficiencySupport implementation of process improvements and cost reduction initiativesAssist with resolving production issues related to product design or performanceWork with quality teams on non-conformances, corrective actions, and continuous improvementProduct Performance & AnalysisAnalyze product performance data, field issues, and customer feedbackIdentify trends and recommend design or process improvementsTrack key product metrics (quality, yield, cost, reliability)Cross-Functional CollaborationAct as a liaison between engineering, sales, quality, and operationsProvide technical support to internal teams and customersTranslate complex technical concepts into practical, actionable insightsSupport training for internal teams on product features and applicationsTravel to tradeshows as needed and provide direct customer interactions regarding productQualificationsQualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or related)2–5+ years of experience in engineering, product support, or manufacturing environmentStrong understanding of engineering principles, materials, and manufacturing processesExperience reading and interpreting technical drawings and specificationsStrong problem-solving and analytical skillsEffective communication skills across technical and non-technical teamsPreferred QualificationsExperience with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD)Familiarity with WorkWise ERP SystemExperience with Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologiesKnowledge of quality systems (ISO standards, root cause analysis tools, etc.)Physical Demands And Work EnvironmentThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
