Accounting Manager (Hybrid - El Segundo, CA)

Our Customer is an endoscope manufacturer, offering systems for human and veterinary medicine as well as for industrial applications. They are headquartered in El Segundo, California.Our Customer is seeking a Legal Operations Manager on a contract basis to help support their business needs. This role is hybrid (3 days on-site and 2 days remote/week) in El Segundo, CA.This role leads and supports month-end and year-end close activities, financial analysis and reporting, and the ongoing transformation of accounting processes. In addition to routine duties, the Accounting Manager participates in projects aimed at transforming and improving shared service processes within the internal controls framework. The position also assists business operations in streamlining end-to-end processes, eliminating inefficiencies, and ensuring compliance with robust internal controls and standards.ResponsibilitiesLead the month-end close process, including preparation and review of journal entries and coordination of team assignmentsEnsure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial results prior to leadership reviewPrepare and review complex accounting analyses, including accruals, reserves, revenue, cost allocations, and fixed assetsServe as the first level of quality control for accounting deliverables before escalation to senior leadershipPrepare account reconciliations, investigate and resolve variances, and reconcile itemsReview journal entries and reconciliations prepared by staff and provide feedback and technical guidancePrepare financial analyses and management commentaryIdentify and implement accounting process improvements to increase efficiency, accuracy, and internal controlsProvide guidance to ensure compliance with accounting standards, including US GAAPLead accounting projects, including planning, execution, stakeholder coordination, and follow-up activitiesDevelop, document, and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for accounting processesCreate training materials and onboarding documentation for accounting staffSupport SAP S/4HANA upgrade activities, including testing supportLead revenue recognition initiatives and reporting accuracy effortsMaintain productive working relationships and collaborate effectively across teamsSupport additional accounting and operational responsibilities as assignedSkills And QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Accounting requiredMaster’s degree in Accounting desired5+ years of accounting experience2+ years of public accounting experience preferredStrong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)Experience with month-end close processes, journal entries, and account reconciliationsExperience reviewing journal entries and accounting work productsStrong experience with Sales/Revenue, COGS, and Inventory accountingExperience in operations accounting environments; not a corporate accounting backgroundExperience with revenue recognition and financial reportingStrong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applicationsBasic to advanced accounting-related Excel skillsProven experience leading and implementing process improvement initiativesStrong organizational skills and attention to detailAbility to consistently meet deadlines and demonstrate ownership of responsibilitiesStrong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skillsAbility to work independently and collaboratively with employees, management, and external auditorsStrong communication and stakeholder coordination skillsAbility to manage multiple priorities and accounting projects simultaneouslySAP experience preferred, ideally SAP S/4HANAPreferred QualificationsCPA certificationBig 4 accounting experiencePublic accounting experienceAI knowledgeAudit experienceTableau knowledgeWe offer a competitive salary range for this position.
