Estate Planning Attorney (Probate, Guardianships, Medicaid Planning) – HybridNew York, NY / Hackensack, NJSalary: $120,000 – $130,000Hybrid Schedule | Temp-to-Perm OpportunityNY Wills & Estates is seeking an experienced Estate Planning Attorney to join our growing team. This hybrid role offers the opportunity to handle meaningful client work in probate, guardianships, estate planning, and Medicaid planning while collaborating closely with Managing Attorney Vlad Portnoy.If you are an attorney who enjoys working directly with clients, managing estate matters from start to finish, and practicing in Surrogate's Court, this position offers a strong opportunity for professional growth in a supportive and highly professional environment.This position begins as a temporary role with the intention of transitioning to a permanent position after a 90-day evaluation period.Responsibilities:Manage probate and estate administration matters in Surrogate's CourtDraft wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and healthcare proxiesAssist with Medicaid planning and eligibility strategiesDraft and support special needs trustsPrepare and file Article 81 guardianship petitionsAppear in Mental Hygiene Court when necessaryMeet with clients and provide consultation regarding estate planning mattersDraft petitions, motions, and supporting legal documentsManage deadlines and communications within the firm's case management systemConduct legal research and collaborate on case strategyParticipate in weekly and monthly case review meetingsQualifications:Licensed attorney in New York or New Jersey5–7 years of experience in estate planning, probate, or Surrogate's Court mattersStrong client consultation and communication skillsExperience drafting estate planning documentsAbility to manage a varied caseload independentlyHighly organized and detail-orientedPreferred QualificationsLicensed in both New York and New JerseyExperience with Medicaid planningExperience with Article 81 guardianshipsSpecial needs planning experienceLitigation experienceTechnology UsedCaret LegalWealthCounselLexisNexisMicrosoft OfficeAdobe AcrobatGoogle CalendarZoomMicrosoft TeamsAbout Company:At NY Wills & Estates, we are dedicated to helping clients plan for the future by offering expert legal services tailored to their individual needs.
