With a focus on technical depth and execution quality, they are seeking a Senior Civil / Structural Engineer to lead design and engineering efforts across multiple substation projects. This role is designed for a senior engineer who wants to take ownership of structural design, mentor junior staff, and influence engineering standards across complex infrastructure projects.Position SummaryThe Senior Civil/Structural Engineer serves as the lead engineer for multiple concurrent substation projects, responsible for all aspects of civil and structural design and engineering support. This role oversees engineering calculations, develops structural and foundation designs, coordinates with internal teams and external stakeholders, and ensures all deliverables meet technical, regulatory, and client requirements. The Senior Engineer also plays a key role in mentoring junior engineers and contributing to the development of engineering standards and best practices.Essential ResponsibilitiesEngineering Design & Technical LeadershipLead civil and structural engineering design for high-voltage substation projects Oversee engineering calculations and review results for accuracy and compliance Develop structural steel designs, connection details, and finite element models Design reinforced concrete foundations and structural support systems Support development of sitework designs including grading, drainage, and erosion control Project Coordination & Execution SupportCoordinate design efforts with engineers, designers, subcontractors, and project teams Interface with clients and external stakeholders on technical issues Ensure engineering deliverables align with project scope, schedule, and requirements Documentation & Quality ControlEnsure all engineering documentation and records are accurate and maintained Review and approve design drawings and calculations Review vendor submittals and support procurement processes Coordinate with quality and contract administration teams Standards & Process ImprovementContribute to development and improvement of engineering standards Identify opportunities to improve design efficiency and quality Support continuous improvement initiatives within the engineering function Team DevelopmentProvide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and designers Support development of technical capabilities across the team Supervision & Professional DevelopmentReports to Engineering Leadership Acts as technical lead across multiple projects Mentors junior engineers and design staff High visibility across engineering, procurement, and project leadership Opportunity to influence engineering standards and long-term design practices Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required Professional Engineer (PE) license required 10+ years of experience in civil / structural engineering Experience in at least two of the following:Foundation design Structural steel design High-voltage substation projects (13.8kV – 500 kV) Strong knowledge of structural analysis and design principles Proficiency in AutoCAD, MathCAD, and Microsoft Office Suite Experience with structural analysis software (RISA or similar) Familiarity with project coordination tools and engineering workflows Experience developing and reviewing engineering calculations and models Ability to coordinate across engineering disciplines and project teams Strong problem-solving and analytical skills Effective written and verbal communication skills If you are seeking a senior engineering role where you can lead structural design, mentor teams, and contribute to the delivery of critical power infrastructure, connect with Stephanie Tiller at stiller@novasolutions.ai to learn more.
