OverviewOur client is a well-established and growing civil contractor with a strong presence across Texas infrastructure projects, specializing in water/wastewater treatment plants, underground utilities, and complex municipal work. With a healthy pipeline and long-term project backlog, they offer the opportunity to shape and lead safety at scale, not just maintain it.They are seeking a Safety Director to lead safety across civil construction operations, with a focus on WWTP, underground utilities, and infrastructure projects across Texas. This role combines strategic leadership with hands-on field involvement to drive compliance, training, and a strong safety culture.The ideal candidate brings 15+ years in heavy civil, with deep experience in excavation, trench safety, utility installation, and treatment plant construction/rehabilitation.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and improve the company-wide HSE program, aligned with OSHA, TCEQ, and TxDOT standardsConduct site audits, safety walks, and risk assessments across active projectsManage high-risk activities (trenching, confined space, heavy equipment, live utilities)Oversee incident investigations and corrective actionsDeliver training and drive a proactive field safety culture (toolbox talks, safety meetings)Ensure compliance, documentation (JHAs, OSHA logs, safety plans), and audit readinessPartner with project teams, subcontractors, and clients on safety performanceRequirements15+ years in construction safety (WWTP, utilities, heavy civil)Strong knowledge of OSHA standards, trench safety, and confined spaceProven experience supporting large-scale civil projectsStrong leadership and communication skills; Spanish preferredTrack record improving safety performance (TRIR/EMR)Compensation$130K–$165K+ DOE + bonus + vehicle + top tier health insurance
