About the Opportunity:The Software Engineer II IS role is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining information systems that support research and clinical trials data management. This position contributes to the strategic direction of the research network by creating software solutions that meet current and future research requirements. The role involves collaborating directly with researchers to design, test, and implement systems and infrastructure, providing insights to leadership for technology integration.3. Responsibilities:• Design, write, deploy, and maintain robust information systems engineered for secure clinical trials and medical research data management• Collaborate directly with clinical researchers and principal investigators to gather technical requirements, design custom database schemas, and establish end-to-end software architectures• Champion modern software engineering practices, Agile methodologies, code reviews, and structured automated testing frameworks• Maintain server infrastructure, manage continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) pipelines, and ensure maximum system availability• Provide strategic technical guidance and actionable insights to engineering leadership regarding emerging software tools and architecture scaling• Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize complex software production issues to maintain high system reliability across the research network• Draft and maintain comprehensive documentation covering software designs, system workflows, and APIs for developer enablement4. Requirements:• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a closely related technical field (or 4 years of direct, equivalent professional experience)• Minimum 2 years of progressive, professional experience in full-stack software development, software engineering, or dedicated DevOps roles• Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience utilizing Git-based software versioning, release management, and continuous code deployment workflows• Minimum 2 years of technical experience in server management, infrastructure configuration, and environment monitoring• High proficiency in writing clean, scalable code using modern programming languages, specifically Ruby, JavaScript, and semantic HTML/CSS• Exceptional analytical, diagnostic, and cross-functional problem-solving skills• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to articulate complex technical ideas to non-technical scientific stakeholdersPreferred:• At least 1 year of professional experience operating within a regulated healthcare, clinical research, or biomedical informatics environment is highly preferred• Prior IT project management experience, Scrum Master exposure, or familiarity with sprint planning is a strong plus5. Pay Range and Compensation Package:• Target hourly wage range: $36.82 to $56.46 USD per hour on the low end, up to $58.13 to $89.13 USD per hour on the high end• Final hourly rate placement within the range is heavily dependent on individual geographic location, depth of technical experience, and core qualifications• Potential eligibility for supplementary compensation plans, including shift differentials, standard overtime allocations, corporate performance bonuses, or milestone incentives6.
