Skills Training – Adjunct Instructor (Workforce & Electrical Training)
Position SummaryAdjunct Faculty positions are temporary, part-time positions hired on an as-needed basis to support workforce and skills training initiatives. The adjunct instructor will create a hands-on learning environment that supports adult learners in gaining practical electrical skills aligned with industry needs.This role focuses on delivering non-credit electrical training for workforce development, including foundational and advanced electrical concepts, safety practices, and code-based instruction. The instructor will support credential attainment and upskilling for individuals and employer partners in industrial, commercial, and residential electrical fields.Major ResponsibilitiesDeliver high-quality, hands-on electrical training in classroom, lab, and on-site employer settingsFacilitate student learning through practical application, demonstrations, and real-world scenariosProvide course outlines and instructional materials aligned with workforce training objectivesMaintain accurate attendance, progress tracking, and completion recordsSubmit required documentation within established timelinesBe available to support students with questions and skill development outside of scheduled instructionAddress student concerns and collaborate with program staff as neededMeet all scheduled training sessions as assignedUtilize instructional technologies (e.g., Canvas, PowerPoint) as appropriateNotify appropriate personnel in the event of absencePromote a respectful and inclusive learning environmentWorkforce Electrical Training ResponsibilitiesDeliver non-credit electrical courses such as:Electrical fundamentalsIndustrial electrical systemsMotor controls and troubleshootingNational Electrical Code (NEC) basicsElectrical safety (including OSHA/NFPA standards)Develop and facilitate hands-on lab activities aligned with real-world electrical applicationsSupport short-term credentialing opportunities and workforce certificationsCustomize training solutions for employer partners as neededEnsure safe use and maintenance of electrical lab equipment and toolsStay current with industry standards, technologies, and compliance requirementsMinimum QualificationsAbility to effectively teach adult learners in a hands-on training environmentAssociate’s degree or higher in electrical technology, electrical engineering technology, or a related field OR equivalent industry experienceMinimum of 3–5 years of hands-on experience in electrical work (industrial, commercial, or residential)Strong working knowledge of electrical systems, wiring, controls, and safety practicesAbility to teach electrical concepts in a clear, applied mannerPreferred QualificationsMaster Electrician license or Journeyman Electrician certificationIndustry-recognized credentials (e.g., NCCER, OSHA 10/30, NFPA 70E)Prior teaching, training, or workforce development experienceExperience delivering customized or employer-based training programsWork EnvironmentPart-time position. Instruction may occur during daytime, evening, or weekend hours based on program and employer needs.
