Structural Steel Estimator / Senior EstimatorHouston & Trinity Area -- Structural Steel Fabrication & ErectionThis role is for an estimator who understands that successful projects are built long before steel ever reaches the field.Our client is seeking Estimators and Senior Estimators to support growing structural steel fabrication and erection operations in the Houston and Trinity areas. These roles will play a critical part in evaluating drawings, developing accurate takeoffs, building competitive pricing strategies, and helping secure complex commercial and industrial projects.Whether your background leans more toward fabrication, erection, or a combination of both, this is an opportunity to join a well-established operation where estimating is viewed as a strategic function, not just a bid number.What You’ll DoPrepare accurate material, labor, and equipment takeoffs from structural and architectural drawingsDevelop detailed cost estimates for fabrication, erection, miscellaneous metals, and related project scopesReview project documents, specifications, schedules, and bid requirementsIdentify scope gaps, design conflicts, constructability concerns, and potential cost risksSolicit and evaluate vendor, subcontractor, and supplier pricingCoordinate directly with general contractors, vendors, and internal operations teams throughout the bid processPrepare bid proposals, qualifications, exclusions, and clarificationsTrack multiple bids, deadlines, and project pursuits simultaneouslySupport project turnover and coordination after awardWhat You BringExperience estimating structural steel fabrication, erection, or related industrial/commercial construction projectsAbility to interpret structural and architectural drawings with confidenceUnderstanding of steel construction methods, sequencing, and field installation considerationsStrong analytical and organizational skills with attention to detailExperience using estimating and takeoff software such as Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff, Tekla EPM/PowerFab, or similar platformsAdvanced Excel and general construction estimating proficiencyProfessional communication skills with clients, vendors, general contractors, and internal teamsAbility to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environmentPreferred BackgroundEstimator: 2+ years of relevant estimating experienceSenior Estimator: 5+ years of structural steel estimating experience with the ability to independently lead complex bidsWhy People JoinStable and growing structural steel operation with long-term project visibilityOpportunities across both fabrication and erection divisionsCollaborative leadership team that values operational inputStrong project pipeline across commercial and industrial sectorsHigh-impact role where your work directly influences project success and profitabilityTeam environment built around accountability, craftsmanship, and execution
