The RoleWe are hiring a highly technical and creative AI Research Engineer to join our AI team at AMD. You will contribute to our efforts to train language models to improve processes at AMD (e.g. reasoning, code-writing) and you will also assist in the creation of educational content publicizing the cool things you can do with AI on our high performance chips.
The PersonIdeal candidates are familiar with implementing the latest AI research, and skilled at translating complex ideas into simple, engaging formats that resonate with a broad developer audience.
Key ResponsibilitiesResearch, prototype, and implement cutting-edge techniques in generative AI, e.g. reasoning post-training, the latest RL methods, etc.
Translate advanced AI concepts into clear, engaging educational content for a broad audience
Stay current with the latest research in generative models and contribute to internal knowledge sharing
Develop skills in GPU kernel writing, triton, or DSLs.
Preferred ExperienceExperience working in cross-functional teams, especially in fast-paced environments.
Contributions to open-source projects, research publications, or internal technical blogs.
Proficiency in Python and deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or JAX.
Demonstrated experience with LLMs/transformer architectures.
Proven ability to simplify and communicate complex technical concepts through engaging content or presentations.
Academic CredentialsBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
Master's degree preferred; PhD is a strong plus, especially with publications in distributed systems, AI infrastructure, or GPU computing.
