SENIOR SYSTEM ADMIN/DevOps Engineer
Overview
In this role you will support MassHealth’s MMIS platform as a seasoned System Admin/DevOps engineer. You’ll optimize the AWS-based environment, handle traditional system admin tasks, and lead a POC to rebuild the legacy MMIS app into a cloud-native solution. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure scalable, reliable delivery and compliance-minded operations. This is a hands-on position at the intersection of legacy modernization and cloud transformation with meaningful impact on public healthcare systems.
ResponsibilitiesInstall, configure, and maintain RHEL on AWS EC2Administer and troubleshoot Java/J2EE apps on WebLogic servers (JDBC data sources, connection pools, JVM performance)Support Oracle RDS with DBA collaboration for performance tuning, backups, and recoveryMonitor performance, availability, and security using Dynatrace and CloudWatch; implement robust troubleshootingBuild a POC to re-architect legacy Java/J2EE app using AWS services (Lambda, ECS/EKS, S3) for scalability and cost-efficiencyAutomate routine tasks with scripting (Shell, Python, Jython, WLST)Bridge development, testing, and operations to streamline software delivery and knowledge sharingDevelop POC for migrating WebLogic to JBoss and Oracle RDS to PostgresHands-on with containerizationCollaborate with development teams to improve processes
