IT Director, PMO
OverviewThe IT Director, PMO will oversee and ensure the successful delivery of IT projects and programs across the organization. This role requires a strategic leader with deep expertise in project management, business analysis, quality assurance, agile methodologies, Portfolio and Demand management. The Director of the PMO will work closely with senior leadership to align project initiatives with business goals and drive continuous improvement in project execution. As the Director you will also develop key business partnerships and deliver value to our stakeholders by identifying and proactively offering innovative technical solutions in support of the achievement of business goals. This is a unique opportunity to build a high performing program and is a highly visible position with substantial impact.Responsibilities Accountable for the PMO team, with two primary focus areas: Developing and maintaining an IT Portfolio and Project Management governance framework and policies to ensure the effective delivery, management, and oversight of IT investments. Establish and continuously improve the IT Demand Management Processes to capture, assess, and prioritize IT demand. Maintain a project demand pipeline, report on demand status, and forecast future needs based on business trends, which are aligned to strategic goals. Align Demand Management process to the Resource and Budget Management Process. Develop and manage the IT project portfolio, ensuring alignment to programs and with business/IT strategic initiatives and objectives. In collaboration with the IT Leadership team, evaluate project proposals to determine the feasibility, cost estimates, ROI, alignment with strategic goals, and resource availability. Monitor and report on the overall portfolio performance, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget. Develop, implement and maintain project management methodologies, standards, and best practices. Identify opportunities for process improvements and drive initiatives to enhance project efficiency and effectiveness. Manage the program management office (PMO), which serves as an escalation point for stakeholders, provides regular updates on project status, and discusses overall portfolio performance with leadership. Foster collaboration between teams, product managers, portfolio owners and invested stakeholders. Effectively perform these responsibilities with a high level of collaboration with the IT leadership team. Qualifications Fifteen (15) or more years of experience in IT and business/ industry. Manufacturing highly preferred. Demonstrated experience in leading diverse teams and applying systems thinking. Program management expertise, plus significant knowledge of productivity tools with evidence of practical application. Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to develop and communicate strategic vision and inspire and motivate staff. Proven track record of delivering on large scale, transformational programs. Effective influencing and negotiation skills are needed as resources are often not in direct control of this role. Excellent analytical, conceptual thinking, and strategic planning and execution skills. Understanding of current and emerging technologies and how other enterprises are employing them to drive digital business, and how they may be applied to the enterprise to drive digital business. Demonstrated ability to develop and execute a strategic resource plan. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain IT concepts and technologies to business leaders, and business concepts to the PMO staff. Strong facilitation skills with experience engaging teams in a collaborative, distributed environment. Ability to listen and support people in problem identification and decision-making, skilled at creating an environment of mutual influence. Ability to demonstrate empathy; ability to encourage the personal development of others; ability to persuade rather than use authority. Education Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, business administration or related field.PMP Certification a plus
