Find your future with us.Boeing Global Services (BGS) is looking for an Packaging Engineering Specialist to join our Global Warehousing & Logistics team in Forest Park, GA.Global Warehousing & Logistics team supports operations and strategy in logistics, warehousing, and reusable packaging engineering. Joining our team will introduce you to the company’s many operations requiring logistics support. Our Packaging Engineering Specialists are hard-working, goal-oriented and creative, and we are looking for this new team member to participate in every level of design and orientation.Position Responsibilities:AssociateExpect to learn all facets of Packaging, earning invaluable skills and industry knowledgeAssist in determining efficiencies and prepare improvements for implementation as part of cost-effective worldwide distribution and storage by considering practical packaging and/or handling applicationsAssist in providing logistics support analysis by applying established company policies and procedures in accordance with domestic and international lawsAssist with developing warehousing material flow, equipment layout, and capital budget to store assembly and support materialsMaintain employee awareness for hazardous materials (dangerous goods) general familiarization, function specific, and safety requirements by providing walk-through support to meet federal and international regulationsAssist in training and compliance for the implementation of HM-232 (Hazardous Materials Security Plans) for the receiving, storing and shipping of hazardous materialsEvaluate, classify and develop packaging instructions for hazardous materialsPlan the markings, labeling, packaging, and documentation for shipments in compliance with Federal, State, and international regulationsMay occasionally interact and present to high level organizational leadershipWork independently with minimal oversightExperiencedCoordinate and provide property controls and enter calibration cycle through metrology departments to maintain accuracy of the equipmentSubmit approved requests and justifications in accordance with company procedures or policyAssist equipment procurement by researching and investigating the requirements/applications for material handling equipment to improve capabilities to evaluate quotations from potential suppliers of equipmentProcess billing and cost charge to prepare budget and justification for equipmentMaximize efficiencies and implement improvements for cost effective worldwide distribution and storage by considering practical packaging and/or handling applicationsProvide logistics support analysis by applying established company policies and procedures in accordance with domestic and international lawsDevelop warehousing material flow, equipment layout, and capital budget to store assembly and support materialsAssist in calculating volume, storage requirements, quantity and type of storage and handling equipment needed for high efficiency, low-cost warehouse operationsMaintain employee awareness for hazardous materials, general familiarization, function specific, and safety requirements by providing walk-through support to meet federal and international regulationsOversee the training and compliance for the implementation of HM-232 (Hazardous Materials Security Plans) for the receiving, storing and shipping of hazardous materials (dangerous goods)Evaluate, classify and develop packaging instructions for hazardous materialsPlan the markings, labeling, packaging, and documentation for shipments in compliance with Federal, State, and International regulationsBasic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):1+ years of experience reading & interpreting engineering drawings and specifications1+ years of experience with packaging engineering (preferably packaging engineering)1+ years of experience working with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)1+ years of experience using professional written and verbal communication skills to achieve deliverablesPreferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):3+ years of work-related experience as listed above3+ years of experience in dangerous goods, regulations and assessments3+ years of experience with creating packaging requirements3+ years of experience working in a manufacturing environment3+ years of experience working with CAD system (SolidWorks, NX Unigraphics or Catia)3+ years of experience working independently3+ years of experience in analytical and design skills3+ years of experience critical thinking and problem-solving skillsDegree in Engineering or Technical DisciplineConflict of Interest:Successful candidates for this job must satisfy the Company's Conflict of Interest (COI) assessment processDrug Free Workplace:Boeing is a Drug Free Workplace where post offer applicants and employees are subject to testing for marijuana, cocaine, opioids, amphetamines, PCP, and alcohol when criteria is met as outlined in our policies.Total Rewards & Pay Transparency:At Boeing, we strive to deliver a Total Rewards package that will attract, engage and retain the top talent.
