MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE DETAILING RAILS/HANDRAILS/STAIRS As a Steel Designer you'll be responsible for preparing cost designs by communicating with the estimating team, analyzing proposals/requirements, and drafting fabricated metal/construction projects. DUTIES AND RESPONBILITIES: Work with Construction Estimators to initiate projects (e.g., review scope of work, timelines, and other relevant information). Utilize AutoCAD to draft designs based upon project details provided in accordance with Metal City Fab and/or client-specific standards. Maintain dynamic communication with clients as well as the project team regarding scheduling and project timeline priorities. Develop and draft architectural and engineering details and plans, assist management in preparing proposals and generate correspondence for clients and managers. Perform fieldwork, documentation, research, and drafting tasks of architectural and engineering data as requested by clients or managers. Participate in team meetings to help resolve project issues such as coordination, scheduling, and technical concerns. Document time and expenses using Metal City Fab's current policy. Foster a culture of external and internal client service. REQUIRED SKILLS: High school diploma 5+ year(s) of 2D experience in AutoCAD required. Must know how to field measure for railings Must know how to CAD railings in SolidWorks 3D Must have strong written and verbal communication skills. Must have strong time management skills. Must be prompt, organized, detail oriented and team driven. Must be exceptionally proficient in computer skills, including in Microsoft Office and email. Ability to read and understand construction plans/blueprints a plus. Construction Management experience is a plus. Utilize 2D AutoCAD to assist Construction Estimators in preparing submittal packages at the direction of the design staff. Kicking-off project with construction estimators by reviewing scope of work, timelines, and other relevant project related information. Directly contact clients/project contacts to discuss tentative schedules and project priority order Reviewing scope of work for accuracy and notify project team when/if any discrepancies are found. Creating submittal packages, sending them out for approval, and being able to field any questions related to materials lead times. Field measuring (when applicable) by being able to visit construction sites following OSHA/MIOSHA attire standards Requesting purchase orders for accurate material quantities Handing-off projects to the Operations team (Operations kick-off) Qualifications: Extensive experience with 2D AutoCAD (2014 or equivalent) is a must, and previous experience in the metal fabrication field/construction industry is a huge plus. Experience working with outside parties on projects that contain budgets and deadlines Strong verbal and written communications skills Track record of attention to detail Strong organizational skills Proficiency with the Google suite Proficiency with MS Excel Perks of the Job: Collaborative work environment Direct contact with our clients - you're important and we trust you!
