Job Title: ICU Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: ICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum ICU experience as required by unit/contract; strong critical thinking and prioritization skills. License: Current, unrestricted RN license (Ohio or compact, as applicable). Certifications: BLS (AHA) required; ACLS (AHA) required. Must-Have: Ability to work rotating weekends/holidays per staffing needs. Description: Provides high-acuity, evidence-based nursing care to critically ill adult patients in a fast-paced ICU. Collaborates with an interdisciplinary team to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care, ensuring patient safety, clinical excellence, and compassionate family-centered support. Performs comprehensive assessments, interprets clinical changes, and initiates appropriate nursing interventions and escalation. Manages and monitors critically ill patients including hemodynamic monitoring, ventilators, titratable infusions, and invasive lines/drains as allowed. Administers medications and blood products per policy; verifies high-alert medications and infusion settings with required independent double checks. Implements orders, care pathways, and bundles (e.g., sepsis, VAP, CLABSI prevention) and documents accurately. Coordinates care with physicians, APPs, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and ancillary services; participates in rounds and handoffs using standardized communication tools. Provides patient/family education, support, and advocacy, including end-of-life care when applicable. Maintains competency with emergency response (code blue/rapid response), critical equipment, and infection prevention standards.
