Project Engineer – Heavy Civil / Infrastructure ConstructionPosition Summary:We are partnering with a nationally recognized, award-winning heavy civil contractor known for delivering complex infrastructure projects across highways, bridges, marine, rail, and transit systems. This family-owned organization has built a strong reputation for safety, quality, and on-time project delivery.With a collaborative, team-driven culture and a strong backlog of public infrastructure work, the company continues to invest heavily in its people, equipment, and technology while maintaining long-term stability and growth.We are seeking a Project Engineer to play a key role in the successful delivery of complex, multi-million-dollar heavy civil and bridge projects from preconstruction through completion.Key Responsibilities:Support overall project execution from preconstruction through closeout on large-scale heavy civil projectsPromote and uphold a safety-first culture in all aspects of the projectAssist in developing and maintaining project schedules, including CPM scheduling and updatesSupport project budgeting, cost tracking, forecasting, and resource planningManage project documentation including RFIs, submittals, and as-built drawingsCoordinate with field teams, superintendents, subcontractors, and project stakeholdersAssist in subcontractor procurement, buyout, and vendor coordinationTrack production quantities, cost coding, and daily reportingProvide technical support including plan interpretation, construction methods, and temporary worksSupport quality control, inspections, and project closeout activitiesQualifications:Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent experience)5+ years of experience in heavy civil construction (bridge/highway experience preferred)Strong understanding of construction processes, scheduling, and cost controlProficiency with Microsoft Office and Bluebeam (HCSS, Vista, P6, or CAD a plus)Valid driver's license and ability to work in field-based environmentsKey Attributes:Strong communication and collaboration skillsHighly organized with strong attention to detailAbility to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environmentSelf-starter with strong problem-solving abilityDemonstrates professionalism, integrity, and a strong work ethicCompensation & Benefits:Competitive base salary (commensurate with experience)Bonus opportunities + long-term incentive structurePension PlanTop-tier 401(k) with company matchComprehensive medical, dental, vision, life, and disability coverageGenerous PTO and employee assistance programsTuition reimbursement and referral bonusesCompany vehicle provided (or allowance), fuel card, and full operational support
