URGENT OPENING Construction Manager (Multiple Levels) – Aviation Projects
UM Planners (WBE/DBE/SBE) is seeking Construction Managers at various experience levels to support aviation capital improvement projects at John Wayne Airport. Projects include both landside (terminal, parking, roadway, utilities) and airside (AOA) environments (airfield, ramp, apron, etc.).The Construction Manager will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing construction activities to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with operational, regulatory, and security requirements. This role requires close coordination with airport operations, airlines, tenants, and regulatory agencies to maintain uninterrupted airport operations.Level/title will be determined based on experience, project complexity, and demonstrated leadership.Key ResponsibilitiesManage construction activities from pre-construction through closeoutProvide on-site oversight to ensure contractor compliance with plans, specifications, safety, and quality standardsMonitor progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategiesReview contractor schedules, RFIs, submittals, cost proposals, and change requestsTrack budgets, quantities, and forecast cost/schedule impactsPerform site inspections and document field observations and corrective actionsEvaluate and negotiate change orders and claimsCoordinate construction phasing to minimize operational disruptionLead or support meetings, safety briefings, and progress reportingCoordinate with airport stakeholders including operations, maintenance, safety, and security teamsLandside Responsibilities (as assigned)Terminal renovations and tenant improvementsParking structures, curbside, and circulation projectsUtilities and support infrastructureAirside (AOA) Responsibilities (as assigned)Airfield pavements, taxiways, aprons, and hangarsCoordinate NOTAMs, closures, and work windows with airport operations and the Federal Aviation AdministrationEnsure compliance with airfield safety, access, and escort requirementsManage work in high-risk, safety-critical environmentsQualificationsBachelor’s degree in construction management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related field (or equivalent experience)5–20+ years of experience in construction management (aviation experience strongly preferred)OSHA 30 certification (or ability to obtain)Certifications such as CCM, PE, or PMP preferred for senior rolesAbility to obtain and maintain airport security badge and AOA accessWillingness to work nights, weekends, or off-peak hours as requiredCompensation: Junior / Construction Project Manager - 3~5 years : $90,000 - $110,000Mid-Level Construction Manager: 5~8 years: $110,000 - $140,000Senior Construction Manager: 8~12 years: $140,000 - $180,000Director/ Program Manager: 12~20+ years: $180,000 - $230,000Benefits: MedicalDental InsuranceVision Insurance401(k)Paid Time OffPaid HolidaysEmployee Professional Development Assistance Overtime and night shifts are not included in the base salary and will be compensated separately.
