Professional Engineer – Electrical

CyientWy, WALL5 SeniorJuly 23rd, 2026
Job Summary Cyient is seeking a licensed Professional Engineer – Electrical to lead detailed electrical design on power generation projects. This role owns physical and non-physical electrical design deliverables — from underground duct banks and grounding through switchgear wiring diagrams and lighting systems.Job Responsibilities Lead detailed design and drafting oversight for physical electrical systems: equipment arrangement layouts, grounding (above/below grade), lightning protection, underground duct banks, electrical manholes, embedded conduits, cable tray, aboveground conduit/raceway, and circuit routing (circuit and raceway lists).Design and calculate site/area/roadway lighting systems, including illumination calculations, fixture/component selection, BOMs, and lighting circuiting.Develop non-physical design deliverables: MV/LV switchgear schematic and wiring diagrams, LV MCC combined wiring diagrams, panelboard schedules, and associated circuiting (assignments, numbering, sizing).Perform grounding analysis/calculations and support cathodic protection and heat-tracing/freeze-protection design and calculations.Design temporary/construction power distribution.Review vendor and contractor submittals for electrical equipment packages (switchgear, MCCs, panelboards, transformers, UPS, DC systems, CCTV, non-segregated phase bus duct) and coordinate resolution of comments.Review and coordinate structural interfaces for electrical items (e.g., support structures for bus duct, embedded conduits, manholes) with the structural discipline.Perform design calculations, review, approve, and certify with a PE stamp on drawings and engineering deliverables.Participate in multidisciplinary 3D model reviews and space-control coordination (Navisworks or similar), and support model-based clash resolution for electrical routing.Coordinate with the partner engineering firm on system-level scope (one-line/three-line/phasing diagrams, ETAP modeling, load flow, short-circuit, protective relay coordination, arc flash analysis, MV/LV cable sizing) to ensure consistent, coordinated deliverables.Track and report engineering man-hour progress against budget/schedule for assigned scope; support project controls and document control processes.Participate in client/partner coordination meetings, technical queries, and design reviews; present and defend technical solutions.Mentor junior engineers and designers/drafters on electrical detailed design practices.Job Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and Master's degrees preferred but not required, from an ABET accredited institution.Active Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Wyoming or qualified to obtain one through reciprocity, having passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) and the Principles and Practice of Engineering (PE) exams with demonstrated experience to design, approve, certify, and seal drawings and engineering deliverables as deemed necessary.Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in electrical design for industrial or power generation facilities (combined-cycle/simple-cycle power plants a plus).Proficiency in electrical CAD/design tools (AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks Electrical, or similar) and familiarity with 3D coordination platforms (Navisworks or similar).Working knowledge of NEC, IEEE, UL, and NFPA standards, plus grounding, lightning protection, and hazardous area/electrical safety requirements.Direct experience with grounding and lightning protection design, underground raceway/duct bank/manhole design, cable tray and conduit routing, lighting design/illumination calculations, MV/LV switchgear and MCC wiringdiagrams, panelboard schedules, and cathodic protection.Experience reviewing vendor submittals for major electrical equipment packages (switchgear, MCCs, transformers, UPS/DC systems).Familiarity with ETAP or similar power systems analysis software is a plus (even where system-level analysis sitswith a partner firm, the ability to interpret and coordinate against it is expected).Experience working within a multi-firm delivery model (e.g., EPC/owner's engineer + detailed design partner) and following an established RACI/scope-split matrix.Strong written/verbal communication skills for client and partner coordination; ability to manage man-hour budgets against a defined scope.Project management experience or track record leading discipline scope on EPC projects is a plus.
