PCU/Stepdown Nurse (RN) | Kansas City, Missouri

Deliver critical care in a progressive step-down nursing role, providing specialized support to patients requiring close monitoring in a fast-paced clinical environment. This contract position offers the opportunity to work 12-hour night shifts, focusing on high-acuity patient care that leverages your expertise in PCU nursing.Key Responsibilities:Monitor and assess patient condition in the Progressive Care Unit.Administer medications and manage drips with precision and adherence to protocols.Utilize advanced skills including arterial line management and non-invasive ventilation support such as BiPAP and Airvo.Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient care plans.Respond promptly to changes in patient status and provide timely interventions.Support unit operations by floating to lower acuity areas as needed.Preferred Qualifications:Valid RN license with current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications.Minimum of 1 year of PCU nursing experience.Experience managing high-acuity patients with arterial lines and drip infusions.Comfort with night shift nursing and flexibility to work major holidays.Nicotine-free facility compliance.Schedule:12-hour night shifts, 18:45 to 07:15.Every other weekend required.Occasional floating to other units.No on-call duties.Location Highlight: Situated in a suburban community near Kansas City, the area offers a balanced lifestyle with access to urban amenities and peaceful neighborhoods.
