Production Assembler
Job Brief:
Nucor Data Systems is hiring an Assembler. The assembler will be responsible for putting together fabricated products and parts of products according to specifications. This role requires the use of hands and power tools along with instrumentation to assemble products, verify quality, and ensure that production goals are met. The position requires good hand-eye coordination, attention to detail, focus, and the ability to stand for long periods of time.
Basic Job Functions:
Assembling components and ensuring that all parts are fitted correctly
Control and adjust equipment settings to complete simple tasks accurately, according to specifications, and in a timely manner
Assemble fabricated parts, components, or other units
Align materials and assemble parts to build units
Handle fiberglass/insulation
Work with various chemicals including adhesives and hardeners
Use hand and power tools to cut, drill, grind, and fasten materials
Use simple measurement instruments such as tape measures and scales to verify correct product build specifications
Maintain a clean and organized work area by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
General housekeeping duties (sweeping, emptying trash, etc.)
Support other departments when work is slow in assembly
Report on unsafe working conditions
Occasionally driving forklift
Performs related duties as assigned by supervision
Minimum Qualifications:
Basic math skills
Read and understand blueprints
Use hand and /or power tools
Basic reading and writing skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience working for a manufacturing company
High school diploma and or equivalent and /or related experience
Ability to read and use a tape measure to precise measurements
Knowledge of 5S, Lean Manufacturing
Bilingual English/Spanish, preferred
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be exposed to moving mechanical parts. Body movements of walking, twisting, turning the head and torso, reaching, grasping, bending, and flexing the arms, legs, wrist, and hands. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision and distance vision. Exposure to fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Work will be 8 hours per day, five days a week, and sometimes required to work overtime.
Physical Demands:
Ability to stand and perform repetitive tasks for an extended period of time
Regularly required to stand, frequently required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear
Occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus
