You’ll collaborate with a strong team of committed professionals, contribute to meaningful scientific work, and grow your expertise in a dynamic, quality-driven environment. In this role, you'll prep and handle samples, sharpen your recordkeeping and learn how every task builds real lab instinct. You'll be supporting accurate, on-time results while you learn the standards that make it all work.We’re looking for a Laboratory Intern—curious, hands-on, and ready to step into the lab.The compensation for this role is $16.90/hr, commensurate with experience, skills, and geographic location.Department: Semi-Volatiles (SVOA) Schedule: 40 hours/week during school breaks, 20 hours/week during semesterInternship Term: 6 monthsAs a key member of the laboratory team, this role will be responsible for a full range of activities including:Preparing samples for digestion or extraction as needed (includes but is not limited to: weighing soils, making composites, crushing samples, incremental sampling, product sampling, etc) Washing glasswarePreparing reagents as neededConducting simple water quality assaysData entryPerform support tasks as neededComply with Quality Assurance Program and other policiesComply with Health and Safety PlanOther duties as assigned by the Group Leader or Lab DirectorYour Expertise And SkillsThese requirements reflect the knowledge, skills and abilities that help you do your best work here.High School DiplomaCurrently enrolled in a local UniversityBasic laboratory techniques (knowledge of PPE, use of balance, pipetting, glassware handling, etc)Basic Excel skills requiredMust have ability to follow directions and work in a team settingMust be comfortable working with strong acids and solventsExcellent communication skills requiredDetail orientedPrior Laboratory experience preferred but not required as this is an intern positionKnowledge of analytical method, analytical instruments, general lab practices and lab safetyAbility to work independently and in a teamGood organizational skills and strong communication skillsWork Environment And Physical RequirementsThe physical and environmental requirements below reflect what’s typically needed to perform the essential functions of this role safely and effectively.
