Senior/Lead BI Engineer

Job Description 8-10 years of experience as a Lead BI Engineer with a specialization in large-scale platform migrations. The primary objective of this role is to lead the strategic and technical transition from MicroStrategy to AWS QuickSight. The lead will be responsible for reverse-engineering complex legacy architectures and re-platforming them into modern, Gen-BI-ready solutions. As this is a cross-regional role, native-level or professional fluency in both English and Spanish is requiredRole & ResponsibilitiesTechnical Leadership: Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for MicroStrategy architecture, ensuring the stability, scalability, and performance of the enterprise reporting environment.Cloud Evolution: Lead the integration and adoption of AWS QuickSight, specifically focusing on leveraging Generative BI features to modernize the user experience. Cross-Regional Delivery: Partner with stakeholders across different geographies, ensuring requirements are captured accurately and deliveries are aligned with global business goals.Solution Architecture: Design end-to-end data flows from AWS data sources to front-end visualizations, ensuring a "single version of truth" through robust data modeling. Mentorship & Governance: Establish best practices for object migration (using Object Manager), code reviews, and technical documentation. Mentor mid-level engineers to foster a culture of technical excellence. Operational Excellence: Monitor platform health using Platform Analytics and proactively address bottlenecks or architectural debt.Skills/RequirementsMigration Strategy: Lead the assessment of the existing MicroStrategy environment to identify report rationalization opportunities (Discard vs. Migrate vs. Consolidate). Architectural Redesign: Map MicroStrategy Schema objects (Attributes, Facts, Hierarchies) and complex metrics to AWS QuickSight datasets and SPICE models. Gen BI Integration: Evangelize and implement QuickSight Q / Amazon Q features during the migration to provide the business with modern, natural-language query capabilities that didn't exist in the legacy tool. Technical Ownership: Take end-to-end responsibility for the migration lifecycle: Assessment, Design, Development, UAT, and final cutover. Stakeholder Management: Act as the bridge between regional business leaders and the technical delivery team, ensuring requirements are captured in both English and Spanish contexts.Quality & Performance: Ensure that migrated dashboards meet or exceed legacy performance benchmarks by optimizing AWS data retrieval layers (Athena/Redshift). Mentorship: Guide junior engineers on the nuances of QuickSight and AWS best practices, ensuring a high standard of delivery.
