Today we are a leading provider of classification and compliance services to the marine and offshore industries, helping our clients design, construct and operate their assets to accepted levels of safety and environmental compliance.Why Join OneOcean Crew?Legacy & Innovation: We were created more than 260 years ago as the world's first marine classification society to improve and set standards for the safety of ships.Global Impact: Our digital solutions are relied upon by more than 30,000 vessels, following the acquisition of OneOcean in 2022 and Ocean Technologies Group in 2024.Product Offering: Covering five proven product areas – learning, fleet operations, compliance, voyage planning and performance management – supporting its customers from ship to shore, from training and people operations, to voyage compliance and optimisation.Navigating the position: Content Subject Matter Expert (SME) - Technical LeadAs a Subject Matter Expert (SME) with extensive experience of maritime training, regulation and technical operations your key responsibilities will be monitoring industry regulation and best practices, writing updates and new content for our digital learning and assessment products.As lead technical SME you will be a senior authority and lead projects on subjects relating to the safe technical operation, engineering and management of vessels from a professional and regulatory viewpoint.You'll work closely with stakeholders across the company to define and prioritize product initiatives, ensuring that we deliver innovative, customer‐centric solutions that drive both customer satisfaction and financial results.Key ResponsibilitiesTrack regulatory updates to identify content changes and recommend new content.Track industry trends, reports and events to identify content changes and recommend new content.Contribute to maintenance of the Impact Report; communicate requirements to Product and Compliance Managers for timely roadmap schedulingAuthor learning content in collaboration with other SMEs, Product Managers, Instructional Designers, development teams and other stakeholdersLead projects to update existing learning & assessment contentParticipate in and give feedback on content reviews to ensure accuracy and sector specific relevanceEngage with clients, internal teams and end users to gather and assess feedback on cargo and nautical contentLead Quality Assurance processes to drive continuous improvementAdvise on queries regarding learning and assessment compliance, regulations and contentLead initiatives to upgrading colleagues' knowledgeLead and encourage contributions to SME groups and Go To Market activitiesSkills, Knowledge and ExpertiseEducational AttainmentQualified to Chief Engineer (III/2) - UnlimitedProfessional BackgroundExperienced Senior Engineering Officer / Chief Engineer (Essential)Experience in a maritime educational role/ maritime professional shore role/ ship management (Maritime Educational Training (Higher Education/ Fleet-On-The-Job), P&I, H&M, Law, Consultancy, Superintendence, Regulatory or equivalent)) (Essential)Expected Areas of CompetenceProfessional English proficiency in writing, text review, critical application of legislation and report writing. (Essential)Expert knowledge of maritime regulatory and training requirements for technical operations and broad range of ship types / propulsion systems (Essential)Delivery of mentoring, assessment and training of maritime professionals (Essential)Excellent communication skills to enable explanation of complex topics in a clear concise manner (Essential).Proven ability to work remotely and as part of a team. (Essential)Ability to structure and write clear and accurate learning contentStrong intercultural awarenessIT Literary with Microsoft suite and experience with wide range of software / digital platforms (Essential)Audit experience (ISM or ISO Standards) (Preferred)This role is perfect for persons who are energised when problem solving and helping others understand complex topics.
