Position DescriptionPOSITION TITLE: Asst. Band Director/CHS & WBJHFLSA: ExemptPRIMARY PURPOSE:Assist the director with managing the instrumental music and band program at the assigned campus. Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth, and provide an opportunity to participate in an extracurricular band. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.QUALIFICATIONS:Education/Certification:Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or universityValid Texas teaching certificateDemonstrate competency in instrumental musicCurrent first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and automatic external defibrillator (AED) certificateSpecial Knowledge/Skills:Knowledge of the overall operation of the instrumental music programKnowledge of curriculum and instructionKnowledge of state and UIL policies governing bandAbility to manage budget and personnelAbility to instruct students and manage their behaviorAbility to interpret dataStrong communication, public relations, and interpersonal skillsEXPERIENCE:Student teaching or approved internship and band directing experience
