Accounting Manager
Matrix Medical Management is looking for a full-time Accounting Manager to join our team in our Bellaire office!SUMMARY: The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing general accounting functions, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records, and leading the month-end and year-end close processes. This role supervises accounting staff, maintains the general ledger, and ensures compliance with GAAP and internal controls. The Accounting Manager partners with the Controller to support financial reporting, audits, and continuous improvement of accounting processes.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Oversee and maintain the general ledger, including review and approval of journal entries and account reconciliationsLead and ensure timely and accurate completion of month-end and year-end close processesReview balance sheet and income statement accounts for accuracy, completeness, and proper classificationMaintain supporting documentation for all accounting transactions and financial recordsReview and approve monthly account reconciliationsMonitor and reconcile bank accounts and support cash management activitiesEnsure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and internal accounting policiesMaintain and monitor internal controls related to accounting processes and financial reportingCoordinate and support internal and external audits, including preparation of schedules and required documentationRespond to requests for financial information from leadership and auditorsAssist with financial reporting, variance analysis, budgeting, and forecasting as neededIdentify and support process improvement initiatives to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and internal controlsCollaborate with other departments to ensure proper accounting treatment of transactionsReview expenses for policy compliance and appropriate classificationSupervise, mentor, and develop accounting staffAssign, prioritize, and review work assignments to ensure deadlines and accuracy standards are metApprove employee timesheets and manage team scheduling, including PTO, coverage, cross-training, and workload balancingConduct performance evaluations in collaboration with the ControllerProvide coaching, feedback, and performance management, including corrective action when necessary in partnership with Human ResourcesEnsure staff are properly trained and cross-trained to support departmental continuity and efficiencyPerform other related tasks as neededKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:Strong knowledge of full-cycle accounting and GAAPStrong leadership and team management skills with the ability to develop, coach, and mentor staffHigh level of attention to detail and accuracy in financial reportingStrong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlinesStrong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to identify issues and recommend solutionsProficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP or similar)Ability to maintain and strengthen internal controls and accounting processesStrong verbal and written communication skills, including ability to communicate financial information to leadershipAbility to work independently while fostering collaboration across teamsDemonstrated ability to drive process improvement and operational efficiencyEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance, orFour years of experience in lieu of educationFour (4) years of accounting experience in a healthcare settingThree (3) years of experience in a leadership roleBENEFITS:3 Medical Plans2 Dental Plans2 Vision PlansEmployee Assistant ProgramShort- and Long-Term Disability InsuranceAccidental Death & Dismemberment Plan401(k) with a 2-year vestingPTO + HolidaysPlease visit our website for more information:www.matrixmedicalmgmt.comAt Matrix Medical Management, we specialize in delivering customized business solutions designed to enhance the efficiency, compliance, and financial success of medical practices across Texas.
