Recreation Therapist

The Recreation Therapist plans, organizes, and supervises recreational activities to promote healthy leisure, socialization, and skill development for youth in a human services setting.Develops and implements diverse programs including arts, sports, drama, and community trips, aligned with treatment plans.Supervises recreation facilities ensuring safety, performs maintenance, and manages risk.Assists youth through positive role modeling and facilitates individual growth.Documents progress, participates in treatment team meetings, and completes reports.Supervises recreational activities for youth and may assist with event planning.Requires a Bachelor’s degree in related fields, youth recreation experience, CPR certification, and a valid driver’s license.Skills include relationship building, conflict resolution, de-escalation, and teamwork, with adherence to ethical standards.This full-time role offers benefits including health insurance, retirement plans, paid time off, and requires in-person work in Auburn, NY, with relocation prior to start date.
