The Recreation Director is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing a comprehensive therapeutic recreation program in compliance with New York State Department of Health (NYS DOH) regulations and federal guidelines.The ideal candidate is energetic, organized, creative, and experienced in long-term care.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and implement a comprehensive activities program that meets NYS DOH and CMS regulationsComplete MDS sections related to activities and participate in care plan meetingsConduct resident assessments and develop individualized activity care plansCreate and post monthly activity calendarsPlan and supervise group programs, 1:1 activities, community outings, and special eventsManage department budget and maintain activity suppliesSupervise, train, and schedule recreation staff and volunteersEnsure appropriate documentation for surveys and auditsPrepare for and participate in Department of Health surveysMaintain compliance with infection control and safety policiesQualificationsPrior experience in a Skilled Nursing Facility requiredExperience as a Recreation Director or Activities Director preferredKnowledge of NYS DOH regulations for nursing homesMDS and care planning experience requiredStrong leadership and organizational skillsExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsCertified Activities Director (ADC) or eligible preferredAbility to pass background check and meet NYS health requirementsBenefitsCompetitive salary: $50,000 – $65,000 (based on experience)Paid Time Off (PTO)Paid Sick Leave (in accordance with NYS regulations)Health Insurance401(k) Retirement PlanSupportive leadership teamOpportunity to make a meaningful impact in residents' lives
