The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the Bank’s accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements, and assisting with month-end and year-end close processes. This role plays a key part in safeguarding the Bank’s financial integrity and supporting daily accounting functions.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIESReconcile balance sheet accounts (daily and monthly), while ensuring that items are cleared in a timely manner Prepare daily and monthly journal entriesPerform month-end expense analysis, loan fee and charge-off reportsAssist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activitiesPreparation of Daily Statement and internal management reportsAssist with regulatory and audit requests (FRB, State, internal/external auditors)Prepare monthly regulatory reports Assist with coding and processing accounts payableMaintain accurate documentation and accounting recordsParticipate in process improvements and internal control enhancementsREQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLSStrong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)High attention to detail and accuracyMust be proactive and forward thinking to ensure ongoing customer satisfactionMust be able to implement new processes and enhance current processes to improve overall efficiency and workflowsStrong organizational and time-management skillsAbility to handle confidential financial information with discretion Excellent written and verbal skillsREQUIRED EXPERIENCEMust have 5+ years of experience with general ledger accounting and reconciliationsMust have 5+ years of accounting experience with a banking or financial institution Must have 5+ years using core banking systems3+ years of experience using Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)5+ years of experience using accounting softwareREQUIRED EDUCATIONBachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Accounting, or related field
